(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Bai Shaojie was sentenced to two years in prison by the Linghai City Court. She was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison a few months ago. It was reported that Ms. Bai forcibly underwent transformation and was otherwise abused in prison. She was deprived of sleep for an extended period of time, and became very thin.
Officer Xue Jingyun, from the Gangcheng Street Police Station, along with 10 people including chief judge Wei Yongli of the Changli District Court, prosecutors from the Procuratorate, and director Meng of the West Street Police Station in Shanhaiguan City, went to Ms. Xue Lihua’s home on the morning of July 29, 2020. They pried open the door to break in.
Wei Yongli put on a judge’s uniform at the scene in Ms. Xue’s home, held a trial, and sentenced her to four years in prison and a fine of 10,000 yuan.
Ms. Xue refused to accept the verdict and appealed to the Qinhuangdao City Intermediate Court. In November 2020, Guan Yuanyuan, a judge of the Intermediate Court, made a final judgment on Ms. Xue without a formal trial and upheld the original judgment. Ms. Xue’s prison term was to be served outside prison.
On the evening of August 20, 2021, a group of police officers broke into Ms. Xue’s rented place and arrested her again. Now Ms. Xue is being held at the No. 1 Detention Center in Qinhuangdao City. Thus far her family has been unable to visit her.
Ms. Jin Huixin and Ms. Tai Zhenzi, both of Korean ethnicity, have been taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Their family members recently went to the Yanji City Detention Center where the two elderly practitioners were held to deposit money for them, only to learn that they were taken to the prison on January 17, 2022.
The two elderly practitioners were arrested for distributing calendars in 2020 and were sentenced to six months in prison on December 6, 2021.
Ms. Chai Wensu and Ms. Feng Yanli from the Xuanhua District were arrested by Nanguan Police Station officers while they were talking to people about Falun Gong near the Nanguan Vegetable Market on the morning of February 9, 2022.
Mr. Zhu Hongzhang, in his 50s, was arrested at his grocery store on February 7, 2022. The police planned to detain him for 15 days.
Ms. Liu Hongying was taken in 2003 to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for one month for forced “transformation” for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu did not cooperate with the correctional staff there. A month or so later, Ms. Liu became mentally unstable as a result of repeated abuse. Six months after she returned home, she left. Now 19 years have passed, and no one has heard from her.
Mr. Liu Jinming was arrested by officers from the Wenquan Police Station on the afternoon of January 27, 2022. Mr. Liu filed a lawsuit in 2016 against Jiang Zemin (former CCP head who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong). Prosecutors brought a case against Mr. Liu to the court, but no one signed or closed the case. The court asked the police to arrest Mr. Liu. He is being held in the Caozhuang Detention Center.
Mr. Li Dexian, from Anshang Village, Houcun Town, Quzhou County, was arrested by officers from the Houcun Town Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market on February 10, 2022. Subsequently, officers from the Quzhou County Police Department ransacked his home.
Mr. Li has returned home.
Ms. Ning Zhihui was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by patrol police from the Qinhuangdao City Police Department on February 5, 2022. She was taken to the Wenhua Road Police Station. Ms. Ning refused to cooperate and kept telling the police about Falun Gong. Her son took her home that afternoon.
