(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wang Jinghui was arrested by officers from the Beiling Police Station on February 7, 2022, for giving out Falun Gong flyers. The case was submitted to the Yuhong District Procuratorate. She was formally arrested.
Ms. Jin Guizhi, Cui Guixi (gender unknown), and Ms. Lin Zhenying of Gaotang County face indictment. The Gaotang County Domestic Security Division submitted the case to the Donge County Procuratorate.
Ms. Zhou Jianhui and Ms. Hu Fengying were arrested in mid-March 2022 after someone reported them when they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and encouraged people to quit the Chinese Communist Party. They are being held in the Chenzhou City Detention Center.
On the evening of March 10, their families received calls from the detention center that the two practitioners were “suspected of advocating Falun Gong” and would be indicted. The families were told to bring clothes and cash to the detention center.
Ms. Li Birong, in her 70s, of Linshui County received a harassing call by someone from the Chengdong Police Station in late February 2022. The person pretended to need to check her residence registry card.
Mr. Chen Bing and Ms. Ye Daiqiong of Linshui County received harassing calls from the Chengdong Police Station in March 2022. Ms. Ye, in her 80s, was told the officers would go to her home and talk to her. She refused to respond. On May 19, 2021, eight or nine Linshui County Domestic Security Division officers broke into her home and ransacked it.
Mr. Wang Zhihua, 84, is retired from the Huafeng Mine, Xinwen Mining Group, and lives in a community in the Taicheng area. Officers from the Taishan District Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, and the Daizongfang Police Station broke into his home. They claimed surveillance cameras showed him distributing Falun Gong pamphlets on the afternoon of February 26, 2022. They seized his Falun Gong materials and took him to the police station. The officers interrogated him, forced him to sign the interrogation record, then released him.
Xia Chunfeng (gender unknown) of the Chaoyang District was arrested when he/she delivered in person a letter about Falun Gong to the director of the Changying Police Station on the afternoon of January 25, 2022. Xia was taken to the Chaoyang District Detention Center and released on February 12, 2022.
The Lijingyuan Residential Committee had people stationed at Xia’s doorway from February 13 until the day after the 2022 Paralympic Games ended.
Ms. Liu Yumin, an outstanding teacher in Dongguan Village, was arrested on March 18, 2022.
Ms. Wen Chunhua died at the age of 46 on August 8, 2021. A direct and major factor that led to her early death was the mass arrest conducted by the Wuling District Domestic Security Division and its subordinate police stations on December 16, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was held in the Changde City No. 1 Detention Center for almost two months. She suffered tremendous stress. Her health deteriorated. She was only middle-aged when she died.
Two guards from the Shenyang No. 1 Prison and a committee member from Bajia Village, Jianping County Bajia State Farm, went to Mr. Yin Guozhi’s home on March 8, 2022. They said Mr. Yin, who was in their prison, had advanced lung cancer and was receiving oxygen in the hospital. They told his family to pay his medical bills.
Mr. Yin’s wife, Ms. Fu Jinghua, was repeatedly harassed by officers from the Bajia Police Station after Mr. Yin was arrested. To escape the harassment, she left home, moved frequently, and died.
Mr. Yin has a son in his 30s who never married and works out of town.
Ms. Zhang Juhuan is a retired head nurse who used to work at the Xianning City Central Hospital. Officers from the Chalukou Police Station ransacked her home and seized more than 40 Falun Gong books on February 27, 2022. She was harassed because she talked to a woman about the persecution of Falun Gong. The woman, who is the sister of Song Ruisheng, former deputy director of the Wenquan Police Department, reported her to the police.
Mr. Hong Chang taught children how to play Weiqi, also known as the game of Go. He talked to children about following Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance and being good people. Someone reported him to the police. The Xihu District Court sentenced him to five years in prison and fined him 50,000 yuan in late December 2021.
