Using Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as Criteria to Correct Myself When Facing Conflicts

Dec. 6, 2022 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) I would like to share my understanding of what I experienced when moving forward on my most recent Falun Dafa path.

When I recited and memorized “The Sole Measure of Goodness: Zhen, Shan, Ren [Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance]” (First Talk, Zhuan Falun), I suddenly enlightened about conflict. When a conflict occurs, I sometimes felt sad or was tangled with all kinds of emotions. Sometimes I even felt resentful, thinking that what happened was unfair. Among other attachments I could become jealous, revengeful, and confrontational, and so on. Besides, I could even hold cunning thoughts to react, and use human methods to deal with conflicts. All such behavior, thoughts, and emotions are not in line with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

As a Dafa practitioner, I already know the highest heavenly secret,

“The Sole Measure of Goodness: Zhen, Shan, Ren” (The First Talk, Zhuan Falun)

“Its highest expression is the fundamental qualities that underlie all of existence: zhen, shan, ren. These are the essence of the Way.” (The First Talk, Zhuan Falun)

I realized that I should correct all my unrighteous words, actions, and thoughts according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

After doing this, I found that all things became easy. As soon as a conflict appears, my first thought is whether my actions and thoughts meet the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Thus, the first action I take is looking inward and correcting myself, assuring that I am on the right path – which is based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Everything has become simple and straightforward. Because the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance have boundless mighty power, all human attachments are exposed before them. Thus, while correcting myself, I no longer get tangled up with each single attachment, nor am I bothered by how many there are.

In fact, there are just few categories of so-called conflicts that appear among family members, colleagues, neighbors, among fellow practitioners, and so on. Every conflict touches one’s interest, fame, or relationship. Under the guidance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, all manifests to their original form. I could easily distinguish which is right and which is wrong. Therefore, I can immediately correct myself based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Recently, a fellow practitioner and I didn’t agree regarding some certain matters. I was influenced by my emotions and became emotional. My fellow practitioner said it was all for my own goodness. This sounds rational. I cannot rebut it. However, I still would like to argue about it. Yet, I didn’t know how to go about it. When I used Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as guidance, I realized that the argument itself did not comply with the principles. This helped me to become clear on what to do: I gave up the thought of being argumentative.

I also had a long-term conflict with my family member who is also a practitioner. The main reason was that I always insisted on my point of view, and always believed that I was right. In fact, this kind of behavior is not in line with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance at all, and I realized that I was wrong.

At that moment, I no longer was thinking of defending myself. Instead, I felt that it was wrong to spend more time on arguments, as it would just waste practitioners’ time and I would fail to cultivate my speech.

Moreover, I found out that as long as I first check that my behavior is in line with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I will easily find out what I did wrong.

In my future cultivation I will proactively follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I realize that by doing this, I am actively assimilating to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Thank you Master for your compassionate enlightenment and blessing!
