Since 2020, prison officials have used the pandemic as an excuse to deny family visits.
Mr. Liu recently called his family and said that he could not put up with the situation any longer. He hoped they could apply for medical parole for him. Mr. Liu’s family called Wang Yuanchun, head of the prison’s education section, to apply for medical parole. It was denied again. Wang said that a stroke did not qualify him for medical parole, that only cancer patients qualified.

The next day, three officers went to Ms. Han’s home again. As soon as she let them in, they asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. When Ms. Han said she did, they ransacked her home, found nothing, and left.
Xiancheng Police Department officers picked up elderly Mr. Sun at his home on November 7, 2022, and took him to the police station. They asked him where he got his Falun Gong materials.
Mr. Sun and three female practitioners were previously arrested by officers from that police department. They were released due to the pandemic. After returning home, Mr. Sun suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for two weeks.

More than a week later, Ms. Liu’s husband and sister were released. It is not clear where Ms. Liu is being held.

The officers took her to the Yushu City Police Department, where they took her fingerprints and shoe prints and photographed her. She was then taken back to the police station and told to sign a printed sheet of paper. She refused to. She returned home after 11 a.m.
