(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Gu Xingxiu was arrested at home by officers from the Liujiaying Police Station on October 16, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to a detention center.
Mr. Liu Xihua, 83, was arrested in early 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. His home was ransacked. He was tried in the Dongbao District Court at the end of 2021 and was sentenced to one year in prison on April 7, 2022. He appealed the verdict to the intermediate court. Because of his poor health, he was placed under residential surveillance. Mr. Liu passed away at home on October 8, 2022.
Ms. Zhong Liena from the Rongcheng District was arrested at Ms. Wu Rongduan’s home on the afternoon of November 25, 2022. She was first detained in the Meiyun Drug Rehabilitation Center. She was recently transferred to a detention center.
Three officers from the Gaoxin Development District went to Ms. Su Yuanxiang’s home around 7 a.m. on December 4, 2022. They photographed Ms. Su without her permission and threatened her, saying that her case would be filed with the procuratorate since she was on bail pending trial.
Chen Jie and Zhou Ling were placed under 24-hour surveillance by officers from the Hudong Police Station in the Pudong New District around November 30, 2022.
Ms. Sun Yuhua was arrested at home by officers from the Nan Street Police Station on the morning of December 2, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Ms. Sun was taken to the police station. Her family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan to have her released on bail. She was released on bail pending trial that evening.
Ms. Ji Yuping was arrested at home by police officers including the head of the Xiangyang Street Police Station, around 9:30 a.m. on December 2, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her desktop calendars, copies of Minghui Weekly, exercise tapes, Falun Gong books, amulets, and other items. Ms. Ji was taken to the police station at noon. Her family was forced to pay 1,000 yuan to bail her out. She was released on bail pending trial around 6 p.m.
Ms. Yu Zhihua was arrested at home by officers including deputy Zhang Jiwei, from the Fu’an Police Station in the Zhifu District around 7 a.m. on December 3, 2022. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was taken to the police station for interrogation and was pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which she firmly refused. Her family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan to have her released. She was released on bail pending trial at 10 p.m.
More practitioners were harassed in Luguan Township, Nanpi County since late September. Man Hongge and Hou Liandong from Luzhuangzi Village were photographed by village officials. Liu Feng from Xiaoxue Village was photographed by police officers. Liu Peifu from Pangtiliu Village was photographed by village officials.
Ms. Sun Fengqin was arrested at home by several officers from the Xinghua Police Station in the Changyi District around 8 p.m. on August 12, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated all her Falun Gong books and 2,300 yuan bills imprinted with information about Falun Gong. Ms. Sun was detained in the police station for three days. Her family was pressured to pay 10,000 yuan to secure her relase on bail. She was released on bail pending trial. The Changyi District Procuratorate phoned her two weeks later and told her to go there and sign some documents.
Ms. Niu Xiaona was tried for the second time online by the Harbin Railway Intermediate Court at 11:40 a.m. on November 27, 2022. She pleaded not guilty.
Falun Gong practitioners are detained in the No. 4 Ward of Guangdong Province Women’s Prison. The prison authorities regularly hold special training sessions to train inmates to persecute them.
Ms. Yuan Yumei is often abused by being made to stand all night by these specially trained inmates. During the day she has to work in the workshop.
Ms. Zhang Yuzhen, in her 50s, is often beaten by these specially trained inmates. Her screams can be heard throughout the ward. She is now emaciated. Her back is bent and her legs tremble. She looks like she’s in her 70s. Even though she can no longer walk, she is still brought to the workshop to do forced labor.
