(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 49 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Zhang Jun, who teaches at the Dalian 123 Middle School, has been detained for almost a year. Zhang was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined 8,000 yuan by the Pulandian Court on May 24, 2022. Zhang appealed to the Dalian City Intermediate Court. The intermediate court affirmed the sentence on August 2, 2022, before Zhang’s attorney was able to submit a letter of defense.
Ms. Chen Qiuju, 54; Ms. Tang Qiongying, 68; Ms. Chen Li, 51; and Ms. Chen’s non-practitioner husband were arrested by officers from the Jinqiao Town Police Station on October 24, 2022.
Ms. Liu Hongxia has been in Xinhua Hospital’s ICU for 12 days. The Ganjingzi District Court rejected her medical parole citing that she was on a hunger strike in prison. When she was tried, she accused the court of abusing its power.
Ms. Du Shufen was harassed at home by committee members of Si Village, Xincheng Town, Qianxi County, and officers from the Chengguan Police Station on the morning of August 5, 2022. They ordered her to sign a guarantee statement to not go to Beijing or Qinhuangdao City as the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party was about to be held.
Twenty-four practitioners in the Qinhuangdao area are being persecuted.
Mr. Wei Xiyou of Lulong County, Mr. Zhao Bingzhen and Mr. Zhang Wei of Changli County are missing.
Li Ruilan and Quan Wuzhou of the Haigang District and An Guiying, a retired teacher from the City No. 7 Middle School, are being held in a psychiatric hospital.
Lang Shuying, Zhao Yongxia, Peng Xiuli, Xu Xiujuan, Xue Lihua, Fu Yanying, Pei Yuxian, Li Guibin, Gao Xingtai, Li Yanchun, Guo Hongshan, Zuo Hongtao, Wu Wenzhang, Li Guoai, and Liu Changfu are in prison. Li Guoai has suffered a mental collapse as the result of being persecuted.
Tian Shujun, Xu Jirong, and Hao Liqin are being held in a detention center.
Ms. Fu Zhongbi of the Yubei District appealed her sentence in April 2022. On October 24, she received a decision that the intermediate court affirmed the lower court’s sentence. She appealed to the Chongqing High Court, which accepted her appeal on November 1, 2022.
Mr. Chen Mingxi of the Yubei District appealed to the high court. He received the decision on November 2, 2022, rejecting his appeal.
Mr. Liu Deyu, 66, was tried in a virtual court hearing by the Dongbao District Court on October 28, 2022. He has been held in the Jingmen Detention Center.
Ms. Yin Liying, 80, was arrested by two officers when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at 6:30 p.m. on October 25, 2022. She was taken to a police station and released late at night.
Her home was ransacked by three community officers on October 20, 2022. The officers did not show any document or ID. They seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder and tore down a decoration that read “Falun Dafa Is Good” next to her door.
Mr. Yang Huiyong, Mr. Wang Shufan, and five other practitioners were arrested at Mr. Wang’s home in Zhaoqiang County by officers from the Wuyi County Domestic Security Division, Zhaoqiang Police Department, and Hengshui Police Department on October 30, 2022. They were taken to the Chengzhen Police Station in Wuyi County. Except for Mr. Yang, all were released on the evening of October 31. Mr. Yang has been detained.
Ms. Liu Chunying was photographed and reported when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 27, 2022. She was arrested, taken to a police station, and held in a metal cage. Officers searched her and her home. They seized her Falun Gong books, flashlight, residential identity card, and six cell phones. She was subjected to 15 days detention, which would be executed after the pandemic as detention centers do not accept any new inmates due to the pandemic. She was released at 7:00 p.m.
The home of Ms. Yang Yuzhen, 87, was ransacked by officers from the Badahu Police Station in early August 2022. She has been under police surveillance. At the end of September 2022, she was sentenced to one year in prison. The sentence was to be executed outside of prison.
Ms. Zhao Longying, nearly 80, from the Yujiang District was reading a Falun Gong book at home on the afternoon of October 15, 2022, when Lijia Village deputy Communist Party secretary Hu Xiongping and a clerk from the Dongyang Village Committee showed up. They grabbed her book, but she managed to get it back. Mao, deputy director of the Honghu Police Station, arrested her and took her to the police station. They released her after they took her fingerprints by force.
She was arrested at home and taken to the Dong Hospital for a physical exam on October 17 by officers from the Yuehu Police Department and clerks from the village committee. She did not cooperate, so they used force. Her blood pressure shot up. They interrogated her and released her that day.
On October 19, Li Huotai from the village committee, Mao from the Honghu Police Station, and officers from the Yuehu Police Station ordered her to sign a document. She refused.
Ms. Zhou Ying, 64, and Ms. Ji Wei, 56, were arrested by two officers from the Taijiahe Police Station on October 3, 2022, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Fourteen officers ransacked Ms. Ji’s home, seized her Falun Gong books, a player, and a cell phone. They then ransacked Ms. Zhou’s home. The practitioners were taken to the police station, interrogated, and held in the basement.
They were taken to the hospital for detention center entry exams the next morning. Both women had high blood pressure. Ms. Zhou was given 12 days of administrative detention. Due to the pandemic, she was taken to the Shuguang Police Station and placed under house arrest. Ms. Ji was taken to Kunming City Women’s Detention Center.
Mr. Gao was reported when he talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Songming County. He was arrested by Songming County police. He is being held in the Songming Detention Center.
Ms. Zhao Xiuli was arrested at home on October 17, 2022, by Chengdonghu Police Station officers, who were directed by the Yuhong District Domestic Security Division. During 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, detention centers did not take in anyone who had not been quarantined for 14 days or did not have a nucleic acid test report. She was held in the police station for 14 days. The officers took her out for a nucleic acid test each day and ordered her family to deliver her meals to the police station each day. She was taken to a detention center in Zaohua on October 31.
Police have been stationed in front of her family’s tailor shop since she was arrested.
