(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Yu Li and His Wife Ms. Xia Jiangyan Arrested

Mr. Yu Li, around 50, was arrested at his workplace in Yang Xian County by officers from the Xinyuan Police Station and the Hanzhong District Police Department on August 24, 2022. He has been held in the Yang County Detention Center since then.

Ms. Xia Jiangyan, Mr. Yu Li’s wife, was reported to the police by people who went to her rented property for a nucleic acid test and found out that she did not have her ID card during the lockdown period in Hanzhong City from October 24-29, 2022. The police came and arrested her. Her situation is unknown.

Mr. Yu Li and his wife Ms. Xia Jiangyan have been persecuted multiple times including arrest, detention, forced labor, etc. Ms. Xia Jiangyan was brutally beaten in the Hantai Detention Center and her ribs were broken. Mr. Yu Li’s life was in danger when he was released from the Zaozihe Forced Labor in 2004. He was emaciated, unable to walk, coughed, and had blood in his stool, and fluid in his chest.

2. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested or Harassed

Multiple practitioners were arrested by the Changfu District police on September 16, 2022. De Lan was arrested at home. Mr. Li Deqing was arrested at his workplace and was detained for two days. Ms. Pan Baozhen was placed under residential surveillance. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Pan’s mother’s home was raided. Ms. Zhou Jiuju was arrested and released the same day.

Police in the Economic Zone District ransacked the home of practitioner Wang on the afternoon of September 16, 2022. They confiscated Falun Gong books and more than 1000 yuan in cash.

3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Cai Huaxing Faces Trial

Mr. Cai Huaxing was arrested by officers from the Junhe Police Station and the Baiyun District Police Department on March 22, 2022. The case against him was submitted to the Liwan District Court on August 18, 2022. He will be tried in court at 2:30 p.m. on November 2, 2022.

4. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Shi Yanying and Ms. Bai Xuesong Sentenced to Prison

A fourth hearing was held on September 16, 2022, against Ms. Shi Yanying and Ms. Bai Xuesong. Three lawyers defended their innocence. Ms. Shi Yanying was sentenced to three years in prison and Ms. Bai Xuesong was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Lishan Court on September 29, 2022. They have appealed to the intermediate court.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Ping Arrested

Ms. Chen Ping, 63, was arrested at home on the afternoon of October 2, 2022. Her home was ransacked. Her family received the arrest notice several days later. It is unknown where she is detained.

6. [Luoding City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Chen Jianguo on the Wanted List

Mr. Chen Jianguo has been harassed and monitored by the police for years. His parents were constantly harassed by local police officers and people from the neighborhood committee. The police learned that Mr. Chen worked in Shen Xuemei’s factory in mid-October 2022. They went to arrest him, but he managed to escape.

7. [Beijing] Ms. Pan Qin Harassed

Ms. Pan Qin from the Shijingshan District, over 80, was placed under residential surveillance during the 20^th National Congress. She was followed and tracked wherever she went. Officers from the Shijingshan District Police Department ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and USB drives.

8. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Huang Guiqin Arrested

Ms. Huang Guiqin lives in Beitaitou Township, Wei County, Handan City. She was arrested in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province on October 14, 2022. A few days later, she was escorted back by officers from the Beitaitou Township Police Station and was detained at the police station.

9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Hu Shengchun Faces Trial

Ms. Hu Shengchun will be tried in the Daowai District Court on November 2, 2022.

10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Jiazhen’s Home Ransacked

Twelve people from the Zuyuan Community in the Wuhou District including several police officers went to Ms. Li Jiazhen’s home on the evening of August 11, 2022. They claimed to check the nuclei acid test and tricked Ms. Li’s daughter into opening the door. They confiscated Falun Gong books, CDs, USB drives, an MP3 player, a laptop, and a tablet. They tore off the poster on the wall.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Kong Qingping Arrested and Detained

The police followed Ms. Kong Qingping’s family member to Ms. Kong’s temporary home on October 22, 2022. They turned off the power switch outside and when someone opened the door they entered the place. Ms. Kong was arrested and detained in the Yaojia Detention Center.

12. [Shanghai] Ms. Yang Jie’s Pension Withdrawn

Ms. Yang Jie from the Pudong New District received a notice from the Pudong Branch of the Shanghai Social Insurance Center, which stated the pension she received from April 2020 to January 2021 would be withdrawn.

13. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhang Aidong Arrested

Ms. Zhang Aidong was arrested in mid-July 2022 and has been detained since. She was previously arrested on June 15, 2021, and released on bail five days later. The Xuanwu District Court sentenced her to 15 months around January 2022. It is not clear whether she was taken back into custody to serve time.
