Six Guangdong Residents Sentenced for Distributing Informational Materials about Their Faith

(Minghui.org) Six residents of Guangdong Province were sentenced in the past year for speaking up for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Yang Yinxiang

Ms. Yang Yinxiang, 56, of Dongguan City was arrested on March 18, 2021, for putting up two self-adhesive stickers with information about Falun Gong the day before. She was sentenced to one year and fined 5,000 yuan by the Gongguan City No.2 Court on August 26, 2021.

Ms. Yang’s latest arrest came less than a month after she was released from serving an earlier term for her faith. She was previously arrested on April 24, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to ten months by the same Gongguang City No.2 Court on December 1, 2020, and released on February 23, 2021.

Ms. Lin Caimei and Ms. Tang Zhizhen

Ms. Lin Caimei, 64, and Ms. Tang Zhizhen, 56, both of Shaoguan City were arrested on August 23, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in an apartment building. While Ms. Lin was released on bail on the same day due to her health, Ms. Tang was held in custody and had her arrest approved on September 29. Ms. Lin’s arrest was approved on January 6, 2021. Both of them were sentenced to three years and fined 10,000 yuan by the Zhenjiang District Court on March 4, 2021.

Mr. Xu

Mr. Xu (first name unknown), 43, of Qingyuan City was arrested on May 10, 2021, after the police tracked him down through surveillance cameras that recorded him distributing Falun Gong materials on April 18. He was sentenced to four years and fined 30,000 yuan by the Yingde City Court.

Ms. Liang

Ms. Liang (first name unknown), 70, of Guangzhou Cit was arrested on November 24, 2020, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials on November 9. Her arrest was approved on December 29, 2020. The Liwan District Court sentenced her to one year and six months with a 5,000-yuan fine on November 15, 2021.

Mr. Chen

Mr. Chen (first name unknown), 56, of Wuhua County was arrested on March 18, 2021, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in June 2020. His arrest was approved by the Wuhua County Procuratorate on April 21. He was sentenced to two years and six months with a 25,000-yuan fine by the Mei County District Court on November 2, 2021.

Prior to his latest sentencing, Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison on May 16, 2001, for upholding his faith in Falun Gong.
