(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Tianjin] Ms. Ma Cunsheng Sentenced to Four and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Ma Cunsheng from the Beichen District was arrested by officers from the Tianmu Police Station in the Beichen District in July 2019 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked and her truth-clarifying materials and Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Ma has been detained for two years. She was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan by the Beichen Court in July 2021. 

2. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Cai Xiuhua Faces Trial

Ms. Cai Xiuhua was reported to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials on the evening of August 13, 2021. A large group of police officers from the Chenghai District went to the home of Ms. Cai’s son around 9 p.m. on August 16, 2021 and arrested Ms. Cai. They confiscated numerous Falun Gong books and some USB drives. Officers from the Longhu District Police Department and the Waisha Police Station ransacked Ms. Cai’s home in Waisha the next day. They did not find anything they were looking for. 

The case against Ms. Cai was submitted to the Chenghai District Procuratorate on September 24, 2021. After the procuratorate returned the case many times due to lack of evidence, it was transferred to the Jinping District Procuratorate on November 13, 2021, which submitted it to the Jinping District Court. Ms. Cai was scheduled to be tried by the Jinping District Court on January 7, 2022.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Hefang Faces Trial

Ms. Wang Hefang, a nurse in the Pinggu Hospital, was arrested on August 26, 2021 and was detained in the Pinggu District Detention Center. The case against her was submitted to the Pinggu District Court on December 14, 2021. She was scheduled to be tried in court at 9 a.m. on January 11, 2022.

4. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Liu Qijian and Liu Qifang Taken to Brainwashing Center

Liu Qijian, 73, and Liu Qifang (their genders are unknown) from Fuxian Village were arrested near the Qingbai River Bridge on the morning of October 28, 2021. They were taken to the Pengzhou Brainwashing Center by four people and were pressured to sign a guarantee statement. 

5. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lu Baolun Harassed

Ms. Lu Baolun received numerous phone calls from Chen in the Xinhusanjie Residential Committee who threatened to rescind her low-cost rental apartment. Later, Zhou from the Guandu Sub-district Office called Ms. Lu and requested she provide her grandson’s information for renting a low-cost apartment. 

Ms. Lu received a call from Huang in the Guandu Police Station on December 30, 2021, telling her to go to the police station to verify her grandson’s school information. All of this harassment is being used as leverage in attempts to pressure Ms. Lu to sign the three statements. 

6. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Hong Youfeng Detained

Four practitioners, including Ms. Hong Youfeng, were arrested by police officers from Funing County in September 2021. The other three practitioners, Ms. Shi Xia, Mr. Wei Hongsheng and a practitioner surnamed Shan, have been released. Ms. Hong is still detained in the Yancheng Detention Center.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yu Arrested

Ms. Wang Yu from the Tiexi District was reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and was arrested near her home around 7 p.m. on December 27, 2021. She was taken to the Xinggong Police Station and was originally placed in 10-day detention. She was released the next day because of poor health. 

8. [Leling City, Shandong Province] Gao Feng and Ms. Wang Gui’e Harassed

Gao Feng (gender unknown) received a call from officer Han in the Xinglong Street Police Station in December 2021 and was pressured to sign a guarantee statement. 

Ms. Wang Gui’e was harassed at home by two police officers. They photographed her and pressured her to sign a guarantee statement.

9. [Tianjin] Ms. Gao Cuiying Detained

Ms. Gao Guiying from the Beichen District was reported to police when she distributed truth-clarifying materials and was arrested in 2020. She is now detained in the Beichen Detention Center. 

10. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Manying and Ms. Lang Dongyue Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Manying from Huailai County and Ms. Lang Dongyue from the Yanqing District of Beijing were arrested at their rented apartment by officers from the Huailai County Police Department and the Shachengnan Police Station around 6 p.m. on December 14, 2021. Their home was ransacked and their personal belongings were confiscated. They were placed in 15-day detention. 

Ms. Lang Dongyue was placed in criminal detention and detained in the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center. Ms. Li Manying is now detained in the Dahuangzhuang Brainwashing Center in Huailai County. 

11. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Binghuan Arrested

Ms. Liu Binghuan was stopped by two police officers on the morning of December 30, 2021. They covered her head with a black hood and took her to a police car. She was taken to the Chengzhong District Police Department. 

Her home was ransacked. Ms. Liu’s personal belongings were confiscated including 10,100 US dollars in cash, four cell phones, three iPads, and her passport. 

Ms. Liu was interrogated three times in the police department for hours without food or water or being allowed to sleep. When she was taken to a hospital in the evening to have a physical exam, her blood pressure was extremely high. She was released on bail pending trial the next day. 

12. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaorong Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiaorong was arrested at home by six officers from the Jingcheng Road Police Station in Xingyang City on December 31, 2021.
