Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province: 26 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in One Day Prior to the CCP’s Centennial Celebration

Aug. 31, 2021 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Authorities in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province arrested 26 Falun Gong practitioners and a family member on June 11, 2021, claiming that the arrests were a “gift” for the Chinese Communist Party’s centennial celebration on July 1.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Orchestrated by Zhang Zhiru, head of the Chaoyang City Domestic Security Office, a special task force was established to monitor the practitioners’ daily lives and phone calls before carrying out the arrests.

On the early morning of June 11, police across Chaoyang City were dispatched to arrest at least 13 practitioners at the same time. The practitioners were Sun Guiling, Wang Hongzhen, Xin Baoliang, Chen Shujuan, Zhou Shuqin, Xu Xiuying, Yan Hongyuan, Tang Le, Zhang Shuyin, Li Guoying, Wu (83), Chen, and Fan.

In Lingyuan City, which is under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang, about 50 police officers were dispatched to arrest 12 practitioners and a family member, including Wang Zhongxue and his wife Wu Yanling, Zhang Kunshan, Yu Shufen, Liu Sulan, Liu Jingrui and his wife Cao Yueping, Liu Ruifen and her son (who doesn’t practice Falun Gong), Li Xiuchun, Li Jing, Tian Na and Zhou Yajuan.

Another practitioner whose name was unknown was arrested by the Beipiao Police Station.

Most officers deceived the practitioners into opening the door for them. They ransacked their homes without showing any search warrants or their IDs. Sun Guiling had 80,000 yuan and Liu Ruifen had 100,000 yuan taken away. When the practitioners questioned the police what law they had violated, most officers were unable to answer them, and some said the practitioners had “disrupted social order.”

At the time of writing, all practitioners arrested in Chaoyang have been released, but they are still harassed by the authorities.

Liu Ruifen, Zhou Yajuan, Liu Jingrui and Cao Yueping of Lingyuan were released on bail on July 16 after they developed medical conditions in custody. In particular, Liu Jingrui is having severe condition: he was emaciated and had blurred vision when he was released.

Six other practitioners from Lingyuan, including Zhang Kunshan, Wang Zhongxue, Wu Yanling, Yu Shufen, Li Jing and Liu Sulan are still detained and have had their arrests approved. They are now facing prosecution after the police submitted their case to the Lingyuan City Procuratorate.
