(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 43 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Qu Yanlai is being held in the No. 1 Team, No. 9 Division, Hulan Prison in Harbin City. In February 2021, he was placed in solitary confinement for 15 days for refusing to wear the prison uniform. For the first seven days, his hands were cuffed behind his back, which was hard to endure.
On May 31, the new team leader Wang Wei took Mr. Qu to the office and shocked him with an electric baton. Mr. Qu went on a hunger strike to protest, and Wang stopped abusing him for fear of being held responsible.
Mr. Qu was forcibly vaccinated twice, the first time at the end of May and the second time on June 24.
Mr. Ma Yitao from Bei’an County, Heihe City, is being held in the No. 2 Team, No. 9 Division. In 2021, he was twice restrained by inmates at the order of prison guards and vaccinated.
Mr. Tan Fengjiang was held in the No. 5 Division. On July 3, he was placed in solitary confinement for refusing to wear the prison uniform. It was not clear how many days he would have to remain in the confinement cell.
Ms. Li Jinlan from Duanzhou District is being held in the Deqing County Detention Center. She will be tried at the Deqing County Court at 10 a.m. on August 17, 2021. She has hired a local lawyer.
Ms. Zhao Shuxia from the Dagang District, Binhai New Area, was arrested by officers from the Nankai District Domestic Security Division when she went to the downtown area on business on February 3, 2021. Afterwards, her mother’s home was ransacked. In May, it was reported that the case against her was brought to court.
Ms. Yu Hongrong was reported to the police for telling a pedestrian that “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” in Wuzhong City on August 5, 2021. She was arrested by officers from the Minsheng Street Police Station, Litong District, and brought back to Yinchan around 6 p.m. that evening.
Officers from the Minsheng Street Police Station in Wuzhong City and from the Changchengzhonglu Police Station in Yinchuan City ransacked her home without a search warrant. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, two computers, an e-book, and an iPad. They refused to show her family the detention warrant. Ms. Yu is being held in the Sunjiatan Detention Center in Wuzhong City.
Ms. Chen Guihua and Ms. Yang Hemei from the Weidong District and Mr. Zheng Jianmin from the Xinhua District were sentenced to prison. After they were released, the local social security departments refused to pay their regular retirement salaries on the grounds that they received notices from higher authorities. The social security departments only gave them about 1,000 yuan in living expenses each month, and did not produce any relevant documents, regulations or rules to justify reducing their pensions.
Officers from the Taihe County Police Department and the 610 Office harassed Mr. Fan Xinglong several times in July 2021. They told him to go to the police department for questioning and they would write down his responses.
Officer Wang Hailei was involved in numerous persecution cases. At the end of 2020, he participated in the arrest of Mr. Zhou Sanyong in Taihe County, who has not yet been released.
Mr. Wang Guangbin from Wangliu Village, Yingli Town, Shouguang City, was handcuffed and arrested at home on June 29, 2021. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Feng Yan, 64, from Santang Town was arrested while selling handbags at the Santang Farmers' Market on August 7, 2021. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Qiu Tieling’s husband Mr. Wang Jinhui was accompanied by her sister to the Xincheng District Police Department to inquire about her situation in recent days. They were held in custody for five hours.
Mr. Wang is in a wheelchair and suffers from cerebral thrombosis. After he was frightened when he went to the police department, his condition worsened.
Residential officers from the Yilidi Police Station in the Weihe Forestry Bureau recently harassed several Falun Gong practitioners. They wore law enforcement equipment and entered practitioners’ homes claiming they were registering records on residential books and collecting their personal and work information.
Practitioners known to have been arrested were: Chen Chunsheng, Yue Shulan, Han Xiting, Li Xiuqin, Zhou Chuanrong, Meng Qingmin, Sun Shuhua, Lu Ying, and Che Zhongzhen.
Officers including Li Feng from the Dachangtun Police Station, Fengman District, went to Ms. Lei Xiuxiang’s home on July 26, 2021. When they tried to photograph her, she stopped them. Li told Ms. Lei to go to the police station to process paperwork, but she did not cooperate.
Ms. Lei was previously sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. She returned home from the Changchun Women’s Prison on January 23, 2021.
Party secretary Liao of Mingguan Town in the Yongnian District, together with officials of the Qilidian Brigade, harassed Ms. Li Xiangting and videotaped her on August 4, 2021. That night, the officials of the Houcaozhuang Brigade also harassed Liu Pingxian (gender unknown).
The head of the building where Ms. Wei Liying lives went to her home in the Hebei Sub-district on July 9, 2021, and made a phone call to director Wei. Director Wei brought a person to Ms. Wei’s home. They took photos of her brother’s subsistence allowance card, and then called the residential police officer. After that, four people came. They threatened Ms. Wei that they could cut off her brother’s subsistence allowance and her salary, unless she signed and fingerprinted three blank sheets of paper.
Ms. Jiang Yuzhi from Dongshijiatun, Yumin Township, Yushu City, was arrested on the morning of August 4, 2021, by Xing Deyuan and other people from the Yumin Township Police Station, led by brigade security director Zhang Zhiquan in the village. Ms. Jiang was dragged into the car. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Ms. Chang Yufang from the Xinhua District was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 7, 2021.
Ms. Chang used someone else’s cell phone in the police station to call and tell her daughter, who was out of town, that she had been taken to the police station. Before she could tell her which police station she was in, her phone was forcibly hung up. Further details are pending.
Ms. Li Zemei was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials at noon on August 3, 2021. She was arrested by officers from the Ganlu Police Station. She was released as her blood pressure readings exceeded 200 mmHg.
Mr. Zhu Shiyou, Ms. Wang Chuanfang, Ms. Li Xiying, and Ms. Zhang Mingzhen from Hongheqiao Town were taken to the Hongheqiao Police Station by brigade Party secretary Zhu Mengqiang and the brigade accountant Meng Fanqing between July 21 to July 30, 2021. They were taken to the Fuyang City Brainwashing Center. In addition, practitioners Tang, Fang, and Fang’s third daughter-in-law were also arrested.
Three civil servants from the Gaoling Town government and Party secretary Fu Yunfu, of Datun Village, went to Ms. Zhou Suqin’s home on the afternoon of July 6, 2021. They asked her whether she still practiced Falun Gong. She answered yes. They said that she should just practice at home and not go out to talk to people about Falun Gong.
Ms. Huang Kairong and Ms. Feng Qingxiu were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Gaoping Town on the morning of August 7, 2021. They were arrested by officers from the local police station.
Ms. Liu Hongmei and Ms. Lu Haiying from the Weicheng District were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in March 2020. They were arrested by officers from the Weicheng Police Department and the Wangliu Police Station. They were released on bail. Ms. Liu was fined 3,000 yuan, and Ms. Lu 5,000 yuan. The fines have been returned to the two practitioners.
Officers harassed and threatened both two practitioners on February 21, 2021, and then on March 23. The officers threatened them and said that if they did not go to the police station, they would go their homes to arrest them in order to collect personal information.
On June 7, officers from the police station forcibly took Ms. Liu away for a physical examination and collected her personal information in preparation for a 10-day detention. She kept sending righteous thoughts and returned home after failing the physical examination.
On June 9 and July 10, officers arrested Ms. Lu and tried to detain her for 10 days, but failed.
Ms. Pan Wei from Jinan City, Shandong Province, decided to go to Beijing to follow up on social insurance-related business. She bought the train ticket at 3 p.m. on April 21. At 6 p.m. two 110 emergency response police officers and a residential committee member knocked on the door of her home. They told her not to go to Beijing to do anything “improper.”
After Ms. Pan arrived in Beijing, members of the residential committee called to harass her again. She returned from Beijing on the same day. Members of the residential committee waited at the entrance to the building where she lived and photographed her with their cell phones.
The next day, Wang Shaojie, deputy director of the residential committee, brought a printed itinerary report, told her to sign it, and told her not to go to Beijing before July 1, which marked the centenary of the Chinese Communist Party.
On the morning of June 28, 2021, Ms. Wang Huaxiu went out for grocery shopping. As she was about to step out of the gate of the residential community, she was stopped by two community management office members and was told that she could not go out. They also rummaged through her bag.
From July 1 to July 5, Party secretary Liu of the community’s residential committee and others set up checkpoints at the gate of Ms. Wang’s community to monitor all her movements and to stop her from going out. When she went out to buy groceries, they sent someone to follow her. They followed her wherever she went.
Mr. Li Guolin from Nanqiulan Village, Mingyi Township, was released on bail on July 31, 2021.
After returning home, the town police station asked Mr. Li to apply for a dedicated cell phone card issued by China Unicom, so that the police station could reach him at any time to monitor him. He was not allowed to leave the county and had to report whenever he traveled anywhere within the county.
