(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 27 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Jie and Han Gongying Prosecuted

Ms. Yang Jie and Han Gongying were arrested by officers from the Donggang Police Department and the Tai’an Road Police Station in April 2020 for distributing Falun Gong materials. Both practitioners were released on bail that evening.

In June 2021, the two practitioners’ cases were turned over to the Wulian Procuratorate. They received court indictments on July 14.

2. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Zhihui and Two Family Members Arrested

Mr. Zhang Zhihui, owner of a retail merchandise market in Huangchuan County, was arrested by officers from the Longgu Township Police Station on Longgu Township Road, Huangchuan County, around 5 p.m. on July 20, 2021. His car was impounded.

The officers went to his home and arrested his non-practitioner wife around 7 p.m. that evening.

On the morning of July 21, the officers took Mr. Zhang and his wife to the hospital for blood tests as part of a physical examination. The officers arrested the couple’s non-practitioner daughter at her workplace around 4 p.m. Around 7 p.m. that evening Mr. Zhang’s wife and their daughter were released. His wife spent 24 hours in police custody. Their daughter was held for three hours. Mr. Zhang is being held in the Huangchuan County Detention Center.

The officers ransacked their home and confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, a cell phone, bank cards, national ID cards, cash, and the deposit receipts Mr. Zhang’s parents asked him to keep for them. The officers did not provide a list of items they confiscated.

3. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cui Qunying Tried

The Changchun Railway Transportation Court scheduled a video trial held in Changchun City on July 21, 2021, against Ms. Cui Qunying, who was from Chaoyangchuan Town. About 10 minutes into the trial, it had to be adjourned due to internet failure.

The judge declared the trial would be postponed until July 30. Ms. Cui’s husband, son, and sister were denied entry to the courtroom. Only her niece, who acted as her defense lawyer, went in and saw her online through video.

4. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Changxiu Missing

Ms. Li Changxiu from Pengdian Township, Huangchuan County, was arrested by the police on Pengdian Street on July 18, 2021. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

5. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Liping and Ms. Yin Xiaoli Harassed

Two people in plain clothes went to Ms. Wang Liping’s home on June 30, 2021, and asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Wang told them, “Falun Gong is righteous and good. I used to have a lot of illnesses, and all my illnesses were cured.” They said, “If it’s good, then just practice at home.”

A few days ago, some police officers went to Ms. Yin Xiaoli’s home to harass her. They told her family member to go to the police station for a talk.

6. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Delan Arrested

Ms. Xu Delan from Dongchangfu District was arrested by officers from the Fenghuang Industrial Park Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials in the industrial park on July 25, 2021. Her home was ransacked.

7. [Qufu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Qiaoling Arrested

Ms. Liu Qiaoling from Huojia Village was arrested by officers from the Lingcheng Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential community in early June 2021. She is being held in the Jining Detention Center.

8. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ji Xiaoqin Arrested

Ms. Ji Xiaoqin, 70, was spotted by two plainclothes officers from the Xiguan Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials on July 1, 2021. The plainclothes officers informed the Dongfeng Road Police Station, which dispatched police cars to the scene. Four officers arrested Ms. Ji, who refused to go with them. They tied her up with a rope and carried her into the car. The officers took her to the Dongfeng Road Police Station, handcuffed her, and photographed her.

Later, the four officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, incense, an incense burner, desk calendars, small gourds engraved with words “Falun Dafa is good,” and about 2,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Ji has returned home.

9. [Huili County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Tingxiu Harassed

Several staff members from the Nange Township government and the Nange Village office went to Ms. Zhou Tingxiu’s home in July 2021. Ms. Zhou was not at home, and they threatened her son and pressured him into signing guarantee statements on her behalf.

10. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Fengqing Suffers a Strok Due to Persecution

Ms. Wang Fengqing, 74, suffered a stroke as a result of abuse in custody, but the police refused to release her.

11. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Police Attempt to Extort Money from Liu Guohua

Around 6 a.m. on May 12, 2021, officers from the Guihu Police Station, the Xindu Police Station, the Xindu District Domestic Security Division, and the SWAT Team were dispatched at the same time. They arrested Liu Guohua, Xie Shiying, Zhang Xunju, Huang Huaizhou (Zhang’s husband), Su Qinghua, Su’s non-practitioner younger brother, Zhou Yuxiu, Liu Senrong, Lin Xiaoquan, Peng Shangen, and Li Yun.

Currently, Liu Guohua, Xie Shiying, Zhang Xunju, Huang Huaizhou, Zhou Yuxiu, and Li Yun are still being held in custody.

It was reported that the domestic security division and the Banzhuyuan Police Station told Liu Guohua’s family that they would have to pay 240,000 yuan in exchange for Liu’s release. At that time, the officers found nothing in Liu’s house and took away an old, broken computer.

The Guihu police station extorted 60,000 yuan from the family of an elderly female practitioner before releasing her.

12. [Linshu County, Shandong Province] Case against Ms. Yang Guangzhen Turned Over to Court

Ms. Yang Guangzhen is a retired teacher in Junan County. Her family received court papers delivered by a staff member of the Linshu County Court, which notified them that a pretrial meeting would be held regarding the case against Ms. Yang on July 28, 2021.

13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Shulin Faces Trial

Mr. Liu Shulin, from Donganfeng Village, Zhengding County, was arrested at home by the police on May 19, 2020. He has been held in the Xinle Detention Center. He was scheduled to be tried at the Zhengding County Court at 9 a.m. on July 30, 2021.

14. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Jianhua and Family Members Arrested

Ms. Liu Jianhua, her son Mr. Zu Linlin, and her daughter-in-law Ms. Guo Lingfang from Suijiadian Village, Yiwen Town, Yinan County, were arrested by officers from the Liuqing Sub-district Police Station in the Beicheng New Area on February 29, 2020.

The officers ransacked their home. They confiscated Falun Gong books, a cell phone, two computers, and an electric bicycle. The officers fined them 30,000 yuan on the grounds that they found Falun Gong books in her home. The three practitioners were released on bail.

In September 2020, the officers called Mr. Zu and told him to report to the police station and bring along his family.

In March 2021, the Lanshan District Procuratorate called and notified Mr. Zu that the case files had arrived at the Lanshan District Procuratorate and he had to go there for a talk, which would be recorded in writing. Ten days later, three officers went to Mr. Zu’s home again and told Ms. Guo to sign paperwork again to extend the bail, which she refused.

Ms. Guo received a call from the procuratorate on July 25 and was told to go there for a talk with notes taken from their last talk.

Ms. Liu’s husband Mr. Zu Peiyong was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in 2018 by the public security, procuratorial, and court system in Yinan County. He is still being held in Jinan Prison.
