(Minghui.org) Last year, undeterred by the lockdowns due to the CCP virus, practitioners of Falun Dafa in India initiated an online candlelight vigil and other online activities to commemorate July 20, 1999 – the date that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Dafa. We did the same this year as well, and in a way it has helped us hone our skills to use social media effectively to reach out to more people.
Practitioners decided to use social media to publish articles related to July 20, 1999 and to call for an end to the 22-year persecution. Around 38 online portals and print media and TV channels published articles in English and various Indian languages. Blogs on certain reputed English language websites received sizeable views.
Practitioners from cities all across India were asked to send photographs and video clips for the online candlelight vigil.
The video of the 22-year persecution, and how Falun Dafa practitioners in India observe this day as “Protest Day” with a compilation of photographs and video clips of practitioners engaged in candlelight vigil was posted on YouTube and other social media platforms.
A YouTube video with a song on July 20 in multiple Indian languages made by Falun Dafa India was also posted on various social media platforms.
In the viewers’ comments, many condemned the persecution and many wanted to know how they could help. Many viewers wanted to know more about the persecution and also how they could learn the exercises.
Practitioners in Nagpur do the exercises outdoors
Practitioners from the city of Nagpur, where the lockdown is slightly relaxed, ventured out wearing masks and did the exercises, meditated, and held a candlelight vigil outdoors.
A practitioner commented, “We hope to see the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners come to an end before next year’s 20th of July.”
