(Minghui.org) After July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched numerous campaigns to eliminate Falun Gong, but failed every time. Falun Gong has since spread to more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
The persecution of Falun Gong has continued in China now for 22 years. Many elected officials in Taiwan voiced their support for Falun Gong in the lead-up to July 20 and called for an end to the persecution in China.
Legislator Liu Chien-Kuo of Taiwan's Legislative Yuan
Legislator Mr. Liu Chien-Kuo of Taiwan's Legislative Yuan has supported Falun Gong for more than a decade, starting from his time as a county councilman.
“I have known Falun Gong practitioners for many years. I have encountered them in Taiwan and many other countries. They display a very high spiritual realm by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Their actions demonstrate perseverance and persistence. I want to express my highest respect to them,” Liu said.
“Perseverance is very important in opposing the CCP’s persecution and human rights violations. I hope it will encourage more people to join forces to end the persecution more quickly,” he emphasized.
Legislator Su Chen-Ching of Pingtung County
Pingtung County legislator Su Chen-Ching stated that the CCP has brutally persecuted Falun Gong practitioners for 22 years and the persecution still continues in China. The CCP even harvests Falun Gong practitioners’ organs, running counter to human nature and violating human rights. Falun Gong practitioners have rationally and peacefully appealed to stop the persecution. The world has seen this kind of spiritual dedication.
“The Chinese Communist Party should immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong. And I hereby pay my highest respects to Falun Gong practitioners,” he said.
Legislator Chen Hsiu-Pao of Changhua County
Legislator Chen Hsiu-Pao of Changhua County respected Falun Gong practitioners’ persistence in following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and safeguarding justice and peace. She urged the CCP to stop its brutality and to do the right thing by following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Nantou County councilor Liao Ci-You
Councilor Liao Ci-You of Nantou County remarked that Falun Gong is a very good practice and pointed out that people continue to join the practice even though the CCP brutally persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. “Disintegrate the CCP and stop the persecution!” Liao said. “Awaken the Chinese people living under the oppression of the CCP.”
Su Chih-Feng, legislator in Yunlin County and former county mayor, commented that she personally knows many Falun Gong practitioners, the majority of them intellectuals, and that all of them are humble and peaceful people.
“They have gone through a very difficult 22 years, using the most peaceful methods to protest the persecution, like parades and sitting protests. The power of compassion can be seen from them very clearly,” she said.
She called on people from all walks of life to take action. “We must quickly stop the CCP’s inhumane, evil behavior,” she said
Non-district legislator Low Meei-Ling said that Falun Dafa is a high-level practice of Buddha school based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and it should not be stigmatized. She condemned the CCP’s brutality and called on the public to become aware of the human rights violations occurring because of the persecution of Falun Gong. She called on people everywhere to work together to stop the persecution.
“Everyone knows the Communist Party represents autocracy, dictatorship, and totalitarianism. It persecutes Falun Gong, violates freedom of religion. Its brutality is ridiculous,” said legislator Tsai Yi-Yu. He also cited the loss of freedom in Hong Kong as proof of the dictatorial nature of the CCP. “Condemn the CCP and stop the persecution,” he said.
Nantou County Councilor Chen Han-Li
“I support Falun Gong’s efforts to expose the atrocities of the Communist Party,” said councilor Chen Han-Li. He talked about the live organ harvesting, the violations of human rights in Hong Kong and Xinjiang Province, and the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic as evidence of the CCP's nature. He also said that “being against communism will become a consensus.”
