(Minghui.org) The son of a Tianjin resident stopped the police from forcing his mother to sign a statement to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Baozhu was about to leave home to pick up her grandson from school on the afternoon of June 9, 2021, when a few staff members of the residential committee stopped her at her doorstep and asked to talk with her.
Ms. Wang explained that she didn’t have time, but the staffers wouldn’t let her go. Ms. Wang had to call her daughter-in-law and asked her to pick up the boy.
The residential committee staff members then called the police, who showed up minutes later and took Ms. Wang to the Shengli Police Station.
At the police station, several hefty police officers grabbed Ms. Wang’s arm and hand and attempted to force her to press her fingerprint on the prepared statement to renounce Falun Gong.
Hearing about the harassment of Ms. Wang from his wife, Ms. Wang’s son rushed to the police station. He told the police that he'd graduated from law school and that what they were doing to his mother illegal and he would sue them if they didn’t stop. He added that his father died when he was still little, and Ms. Wang raised him all by herself. She practices Falun Gong to be a good person, and as long as she feels happy about it, he would support her.
The police relented and released Ms. Wang at around 9 p.m.
