(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Singapore participated in a candlelight vigil organized by the local Falun Dafa Society on July 7th and 9th. The vigil was held to mourn fellow practitioners who have lost their lives in the 22-year persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After the event, many practitioners shared their feelings.

Mr. Li, who was fortunate to attend Master Li’s (the founder of Falun Dafa) lecture in Singapore, recalled, “On July 20, 1999, former head of the CCP Jiang Zemin initiated a nationwide persecution campaign against Falun Dafa. Two months later, I went to China to learn about the cultivation environment of the practitioners there and also to attend the wedding of a fellow practitioner. The day of the wedding, we were being spied on and followed by CCP agents. As a Singaporean, our living environment has been easy and comfortable. Thus we are not able to understand how brutal the CCP’s persecution is. It is also something unimaginable in the overseas environment where cultivation is free and open. The experience from that trip left a very deep impression on me.”

When talking about the persecution of Falun Dafa, which has persisted for 22 years, Mr. Li said, “I have experienced all sorts of ups and downs throughout all these years as I grew from the initial state of not knowing what to do to taking up the Fa-rectification cultivation path with the other Singapore Dafa practitioners. We have spent time and effort in different truth-clarifying projects. What makes me feel gratified is that more and more residents are becoming aware of the truth, thus dissipating their prejudice against Falun Dafa. Now, more and more people from China are also starting to learn and practice Falun Dafa.”

Xiao Sun, who has also cultivated for more than 20 years, said, “Today, on such a special day, we mourn our fellow practitioners who were persecuted to death. It is also to remind people to quickly learn about the truth and be clear about the evil nature of the CCP. Everyone should let go of their preconceived notions and take a look at the main book of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun, as well as the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and The Ultimate Goal of Communism published by The Epoch Times. In that way, they will be able to be clear about what Falun Dafa is, what the CCP is, and why the CCP persecutes Falun Dafa. They will then be able to differentiate between right and wrong and hold on to their kind nature. This is the true hope for a life to be saved.”

Ms. Zhang said, “My heart is quite heavy. So many practitioners have lost their lives just because they spoke a word of truth but the evil Party is still not stopping its persecution even today. Therefore as practitioners, we should do well in what we should do and continue to clarify the truth to people.”

Mr. Lin added, “I think that this persecution must be stopped as soon as possible! Every country should increase their efforts to stop the inhumane acts that are happening in China right now because this is a matter that is linked to a human being’s basic moral values. In fact, every human being has the responsibility to speak out against this persecution.”

Background: Why Is Falun Dafa Targeted for Persecution?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first taught to the public in 1992. Nearly 100 million people across China soon began practicing after experiencing improvements in their health and character. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and issued an order to ban Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in the persecution over the past 22 years; the actual number is suspected to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith. 

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply the organ transplant industry.

Under Jiang's personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.
