(Minghui.org) My mother and I are Falun Dafa practitioners. Although she does the three things, my mother does not want to endure any pain or discomfort. She often does not sit through the one-hour meditation, even though she is capable of doing so. Since her cultivation state is not solid, she looks older than her age. People sometimes thought my mother was nearly 90 years old.
Resentment and jealousy are two of Mother’s attachments that sometimes surface. While she meditated, her thoughts were on old grudges instead of reflecting upon herself to improve her xinxing. She blamed others for doing her wrong.
One day, we read a sharing article related to resentment and then talked about how we felt about it. She became aware of the hatred and jealousy she harbored. She became interested in committing Master’s teaching to memory, asking me for recommendations.
When I suggested the poem “Realms” and other of Master’s teachings, she agreed to read them but not to memorize them.
“What you just said is not from your main consciousness, it was your thought karma speaking,” I said, “Your karma is afraid the Fa will eliminate it, and that is why it made you say that.”
Mother’s face lit up.
I encouraged Mother to memorize “Realms” as a start. She looked it over and agreed to try it.
It took her several days to memorize the poem. Then the state of mother’s cultivation took a major leap. She said her heart brightened up after reading the articles I recommended. For the last few painful minutes during her morning sitting meditation, she would tell herself to “endure the pain” and “he takes hardship as joy” (“Realms,” Essentials For Further Advancement)
Mother also said that she would memorize more articles, and use them to reflect upon herself, eliminate thoughts of hate and jealousy.
I was happy for her improvement. Memorizing the Fa is powerful. After years of cultivation, mother could not eliminate her attachment to hatred. Now her cultivation state changed in just a few days.
For practitioners who have a difficult time eliminating hatred, perhaps memorizing “Realms” might be helpful.
“Realm
A wicked person is born of jealousy.Out of selfishness and anger he complains about unfairness towards himself. A benevolent person always has a heart of compassion. With no discontentment or hatred, he takes hardship as joy. An enlightened person has no attachments at all.He quietly observes the people of the world deluded by illusions.”(Essentials For Further Advancement)
