(Minghui.org) A Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, woman was sentenced to eight months on May 27, 2021, for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Chen Yubo was arrested in a police sweep of more than 20 local Falun Gong practitioners on April 18, 2019. She was called at work and told to go home, where the police were waiting for her. She was arrested and her home was ransacked.

Ms. Chen was bleeding in her breast and was diagnosed with breast cancer while being held in the Ningbo City Detention Center. The police released her on bail in July 2019 but ordered her to report to them every day.

After enduring nearly two years of intense surveillance, Ms. Chen was taken back into custody on May 13, 2021, and sentenced to eight months by the Zhenhai Court two weeks later. She is now appealing the verdict. It’s not clear whether she has recovered from her cancer.
