During the coronavirus lockdown period, I could not clarify the facts at tourist spots. Calling people in China became the only way to tell them about Falun Dafa and encourage them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. I seized this opportunity and began to make calls on the RTC platform (where practitioners work together to call people in China to tell them about Falun Dafa and the persecution).
My journey on this platform started with an app to dial automatically and then play a recording when the person answered the call. I purchased an unlimited cell phone plan, so my cell phone could dial automatically with a click of a button. I felt this project was great for me as it did not take up my time.
However, my phone number was suddenly blocked after a few days. I realized that nothing was coincidental; this must have something to do with my cultivation status.
When I looked inward I found the attachment of zealotry. When I examined myself further, I found my attachment to self-interest. On the surface, I wanted to let more people hear the truth, so I had the phone dial nonstop. However, it hid my attachment to taking advantage of the unlimited call plan. My phone number was unblocked soon after I rectified my thoughts.
One day I memorized the following Fa while my phone played the recordings.
Master said,
“In genuine cultivation one must cultivate one’s own heart and inner self. One should search inside oneself rather than outside.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
I suddenly enlightened to a Fa principle while memorizing this sentence. I realized there is no shortcut in cultivation and that we have to cultivate our xinxing. We cannot look outward if we want to truly cultivate ourselves. I was struck when I realized this principle.
Amazingly, more people answered the phone that day, and some quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations after listening to the recording. I understood that we can change our environment when we rectify and improve ourselves.
I also had a deeper understanding of one of Master’s poems.
“Diligence and Righteous Enlightenment Don’t let up in studying the Fa; amidst it transformation happens Let nothing sway conviction; of it comes right fruit and the blooming lotus” (Hong Yin II) (Translation Version A)
In the following days, I remembered another poem Master wrote. Master said,
“Hurry Up And Tell Them As Dafa disciples clarify the truthSharp swords shoot forth from their mouthsTearing open the rotten demons’ liesLose no time and save them,hurry up and tell them” (Hong Yin II) (Translation Version A)
Some practitioners talked about how they clarified the truth on the RTC platform. I also wanted to talk to people on the RTC platform. I understood it was Master’s hint to encourage me to directly talk to people on the phone instead of playing the recordings, so I decided to join the RTC platform and make phone calls. I grew a lot in my cultivation and had some amazing experiences during the process.
My family member ordered a new desktop computer for me to use. The company said the computer would be delivered in six weeks, however, I received it in three days. My family member was surprised. I realized Master Li (Dafa’s founder) arranged everything as long as I had the sincere wish to save people.
It was really as Master said,
“Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
During the training session, the other practitioners listened to each other’s phone calls. The trainer also recorded our calls for training purposes. All kinds of people answered the phone. At first I was so nervous that the palms of my hands were sweaty. I realized being nervous is also an attachment to fame. When my desire to save people became stronger, my attachment to fame disappeared.
Master said,
“I often say that if all a person wants is the well-being of others and if this is without the slightest personal motivation or personal understanding, what he says will move the listener to tears.” (“Clearheadedness,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
When I made calls to people, I realized that our tone of voice and kindheartedness is important, but we also need to use wisdom. It is also important to let people feel our compassion so they can accept the truth.
I found many people hung up if I directly asked them to quit the CCP. I listened to other practitioners’ successful recordings and found they all interacted with the person warmly. For example, they broke the ice by saying, “I phoned you today because I care about you and I just want to let you know the truth.” I found people listened longer if I told them that I was contacting them because I was concerned about their safety.
The chances of people being saved are greater if we use our wisdom and reasoning to tell them the truth.
I also realized that I need to cultivate well because the tone of my voice and the compassion behind it came from the level of my cultivation. We can only convey the truth to people if our hearts are pure.
Master said,
“Compassion comes from a person’s cultivation, and it’s not something that’s acted out.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Washington DC Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. IV)
When I talked to people on the RTC platform, I realized that it is essential to cultivate ourselves well. If I studied the Fa and sent forth the righteous thoughts well, the interference would be less, and the effect of making calls would be better. People’s reaction to my phone calls directly reflected the attachments that I haven't yet eliminated. For example, people were usually rude if I had an attachment to competition.
A few days ago, a fellow practitioner asked me if I could call some high-ranking people. I said I could try it, but in my heart, I was not ready.
Because I was afraid, most of the people I called hung up. When some people answered my call, I felt my thoughts freeze and I did not know what to say. As a result, no one I called quit the CCP. I looked inward but could not figure out the problem. I tried again that evening, but the result was the same.
I suddenly realized that maybe Master was giving me a hint that I should call high-ranking people. I was afraid of talking to those people because my notion was stopping me. This was not the righteous thoughts that a cultivator should have.
After realizing this, I asked for a list of people with higher ranks and started to call them. I noticed a practitioner who usually calls these people online. He listened to my call and provided many suggestions. Most people answered my call, and every person listened to me for a long time.
Thanks to Master’s enlightenment, I broke through my attachment and grew to a new level in cultivation. I continued to call other people after I finished the list of key people. The first person who answered my call quit the CCP immediately. He listened for more than eight minutes so I was able to tell him all the important facts about Falun Dafa and the persecution.
While I spoke with him, I felt my voice and tone were calm and compassionate, and my wisdom came out like a stream. At that moment, I knew Master was blessing me. I felt my voice had the power to penetrate the other person's space and bring the wonderfulness of Dafa to them.
I knew that I was on the right path. I broke through my notion and broke through the attachment to fear.
Recently, I encountered a technical issue. When my computer played the recording, the person could hear it, but the practitioners on the same channel could not hear it so they could not give me feedback. Several technical support practitioners looked into the issue but could not fix it.
I looked inward and wondered if I had attachments to showing off or maybe I did not cultivate my speech and said something I should not have said. I knew the technical issue must be reflecting my attachment.
After I rectified myself and met the requirements of the Fa to look inward, the next day, another technical support practitioner made a minor adjustment and quickly fixed the issue. Actually, he did not do anything different from what the other four practitioners had done before.
Through this incident, I further understood that everything we encounter is related to our cultivation. The key to solving problems is to look inward. Thank you, Master, for giving me this magic tool of looking inward.
This technical issue occurred when I tried a new semi-automatic app that enables us to play the recordings selectively to answer the person's questions. I did not think about how to make good use of this tool at first. I had a notion and thought this software could not replace direct interaction with people. With this notion, I did not take time to learn how to use it and only went to the new resource center to find some information or used it when I was tired.
One day, when the RTC platform held a training session about this newly developed software, another practitioner raised the same concern. He thought the software was not effective before he even learned how to use it. So he experimented with the software as if he was the recipient, and the trainer used the software to play the recordings to answer his questions.
I was shocked because the trainer could play the recordings that answered all kinds of questions. This training straightened out my misunderstanding and broke through my notions.
I realized that nothing was coincidental. The software must be effective if it was developed. I spent some time familiarizing myself with it, and when I used it the result was good. Six people quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations when I used it that afternoon.
Master said,
“Actually, Dafa’s mighty power is even more effective than some cure-all magic pill.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. IV)
The power of the Fa will manifest when we have the heart to save people and when we assimilate to the Fa. With Master’s blessings, I can talk to people on the phone, and I can also use the software to clarify the truth. I now have more tools to save people.
Every day when I hear the familiar and pleasant phone ringing, I feel that every cell in my body is touched. I know the ring tones will travel through various dimensions to dissolve the lies that poison sentient beings. The ring also cleanses up the bad substances in my own dimension.
I realized the path of cultivation keeps getting narrower. The time left for us to save people is limited, so we must walk our path well and cherish the time Master extended to save as many people as we can.
Let’s keep up with the Fa-rectification process and do better together.
