May 18, 2021

(Minghui.org) May 13, 2021, was the 22nd World Falun Dafa Day and the 29th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction. Members of the European Parliament, the Federal Parliament, the Hesse Parliament, and the Frankfurt City Council sent letters of greeting to mark the occasion. They commended the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and practitioners’ perseverance in their peaceful protests of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They also called on the CCP to stop the persecution immediately.

Michael Gahler, Member of European Parliament (MEP), participated in the practitioners' celebratory event in Frankfurt on May 8 and gave a speech.

MEP Michael Gahler Participates in Falun Dafa Day Celebrations

MEP Michael Gahler addressed the celebrations held in Frankfurt on May 8, 2021.

MEP Michael Gahler, who spoke at the celebration, said that since July 1999, Falun Dafa practitioners have been persecuted in China because the CCP thinks that there are too many practitioners who want something different from the CCP's ideology. The CCP’s persecution has been condemned by the European Parliament and other parliaments.

“We criticize human rights violations. Human rights are indivisible and universal. No government or political party can regard its citizens as its own property. Based on this recognition and this fact, we support all people in the world, especially those in China who want to exercise their human rights, freedom of belief and freedom of conscience.”

He also pointed out that the CCP “locks people in concentration camps, persecutes them or even kills them, just because of their faith or conscience or their peaceful act, which is unacceptable.

“This is why it is correct and important to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day here. It is correct and important for people in free areas to stand up and defend human rights without fear of speaking out. This is the reason I come here today. Thank you to all who are here. I wish Falun Dafa practitioners all the best and hope that China’s oppression will end as soon as possible.”

Letter from Federal Parliament Member

Ulli Nissen, Member of the Federal Parliament (MFP)Letter from MFP Ulli Nissen

MFP Ulli Nissen wrote in her letter that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance were respectful and peaceful values. She condemned the CCP’s persecution and called for an end to the brutality. She supports the 2013 resolution of the European Parliament, which condemns the CCP’s organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

She wrote that the EU must always make it clear to the Chinese government: “We will not tolerate so many systematic violations of human rights. Any cooperation with the Chinese government must depend on how to deal with issues of ethnic minorities and dissidents. Only in this way can we create enough pressure to achieve certain results for the many oppressed people in China.”

She said that, “among all the worries and fears, there is one thing we must not lose, and that is hope. If we have the strength to persevere, things will go for the better.”

What Is Falun Dafa?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people have embraced the practice, which is based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and includes five gentle exercises, and experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, issued an order to ban the practice.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 22 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply the organ transplant industry.

Under Jiang's personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.
