How Communist Party Officials Carry Out the “Zero-out Campaign”

April 5, 2021 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) The so-called “Zero-out Campaign” has been going on since last year. With the campaign, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been attempting to force every Falun Gong practitioner on the government's blacklist to renounce their faith. As many practitioners have stood firm in their faith despite the persecution, the campaign amounts to a lot of harassment of practitioners and their families and oftentimes cheating by the officers to fulfill their assignments.

On the afternoon of March 10, 2021, two people who claimed to be government officials found my son Qiang at his workplace and told him: “Your parents are practicing Falun Gong. They are on the blacklist. We tried to persuade them to sign the three statements to give up practicing Falun Gong and they refused. If you help them to sign their names, their names will be erased from the blacklist and they will not run into trouble when traveling in the future.”

My son replied: “They will be fine if they sign the statements. But they will be in trouble if they don’t?”

“Even if they get themselves into trouble, it won’t be that serious. We can’t do much to them.”

“Not much? My father was arrested and forced to stand in ice water in the winter and my mother was handcuffed and shackled. What else do you want to do?” Qiang raised his voice.

“We did not do it.” They left in a hurry since Qiang refused to cooperate with them.

My son's boss was also upset: “Why can't they do something useful?”

One of the two guys found my son again two days later. He stated this time that his name is Chen Demin and he wanted to talk to my son. Qiang agreed. Chen then asked him to get into the police car for a talk.

Qiang got in the car. He saw two policemen sitting in the front row. They stated: “The law stipulates tht is illegal to practice Falun Gong…”

Qiang interrupted: “I am actually studying the law. You said that it is illegal. Can you tell me which law have my parents violated?”

They hesitated for a minute and said: “If you want to know which law it is, just follow us to the police department and we will show it to you.”

“If it's the existing law, it must be available to the public. Why don’t you check it out on your phone and show me right here?” Qiang insisted.

They were silent and then asked my son to go back to work.

In another round of harassment, another local Falun Gong practitioner also refused to cooperate with the officials. Then the officials went to her husband's workplace and ordered him to sign the renouncing statement on her behalf. When they resorted to physical force, grabbing his hand to make him sign the statement, his co-worker could not bear it anymore. “Alright, I will sign.” So the co-worker signed the paper.

For the officials, as long as they got the signatures of targeted practitioners and finish their tasks, that was good enough – no matter whether it was false or not. In fact, it is the nature of the Chinese Communist Party, which is all about “falsehood, evil, and violence.”.
