(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 8 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Communist Party members from the Bairin Left Banner Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the police department, and the Longchang Town government went to Ms. Sun Zhifang’s home in the autumn of 2015. She was not there, but they nonetheless searched every corner of her home, including under the beds. They went to her home again in autumn 2019. She was not there. They videotaped around the place and kept questioning her family about her whereabouts.
In November 2020, Chinese Communist Party launched the Zero-out campaign to force practitioners to renounce Falun Gong. Agents form the Longchang Town government called Ms. Sun’s husband and son, demanding to know her whereabouts.
Ms. Li Chong, in her 30s, of Nong’an City, is imprisoned in the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. She has refused to be transformed, so the guards ordered inmates to abuse her. They forced her to sit on a small stool, stand for long periods of time, and exposed her to freezing cold in front of open windows during the winter while they poured cold water on her.
Ms. Dang Yanhua, in her 60s, of Jilin City, was forced to sit on a small stool. As a result, her buttocks were injured, her legs became stiff, and she had difficulty walking. The inmates followed the guards’ orders and abused her. They tried to force her to write statements renouncing Falun Gong. They first gave her very little food. They later gave her food but did not allow her to use the toilet. When she was not able to hold it any longer, they forced her to urinate into her dining bowl, then put her rice into the bowl and made her eat it. They smeared her mouth with her own excrement when she had bowel leakage.
Ms. Wang Yumei was arrested at home by officers from the Nantou Police Station on December 15, 2020. She was detained for 15 days and released on December 30.
She was arrested again in early January 2021 and has since been held at the Nanshan District Detention Center. Police submitted her case to the Procuratorate.
Ms. Mei Yufeng, 75, was arrested at home by officers from the Qingshanhu District Police Department at noon on February 20, 2021. Her computer and other belongings were confiscated. Her whereabouts are unknown.
She was imprisoned several times for practicing Falun Gong. She was held at a brainwashing center for over 50 days, detained three times—for a total of over 80 days. She was subjected to one year of forced labor, and sentenced to a three-year prison term.
Mr. Song Zhi, 46, was arrested in November 2019. The Yanta District Procuratorate submitted his case to the Yanta District Court.
The first hearing was held on the morning of July 16, 2020. The prosecutor submitted three witnesses. One was imprisoned and did not show up in the court.
Mr. Song has been repeatedly imprisoned in detention centers, forced labor camps, and brainwashing centers. He is being held at Xi’an City Detention Center.
Mr. Hao Ruwen was arrested on July 17, 2019 and sentenced to five years in prison. He is being held in Harbin Prison.
Ms. Ren Xiufeng was arrested in July 2002 for giving a young man a card with a QR code. The police ransacked her home and confiscated QR code cards and two copies of Minghui Weekly. She was held in the No. 2 Police Station overnight and released the next day. She did not know she was released on bail, and was repeatedly harassed during the Zero-out campaign. Ms. Ren’s daughter was implicated and not allowed to go to work. The daughter has heart disease and had a stroke.
Four officers arrested Ms. Ren at her home on January 12, 2021. They claimed she distributed Falun Gong flyers and was recorded by surveillance cameras. They drove her to a hospital, where she was given a nucleic acid test and lung CT scan. Afterwards they took her to an interrogation room in the Nehe Police Department. They ordered her to sign several papers, but she refused. They then took her to Fuyu Court, told her that she could hire a lawyer within a month, and ordered her to sign a paper. She did not sign. They took her back the police department. She saw that her daughter was there. Her daughter signed a paper and took her home.
An officer from the No. 3 Police Station called her two days before the Chinese New Year and ordered her to report to the police station. Both Ms. Ren and her daughter went there. The officer ordered her to sign a paper. She refused without taking a look. Her daughter signed for her. The officer said she would be sentenced.
