(Minghui.org) In August this year, I was illegally arrested and detained for practicing Falun Dafa. The Minghui website published the information of the police officers who were involved, including their names and phone numbers. Some overseas practitioners then called the perpetrators and urged them to not participate in the persecution. One officer recorded a phone call he received from a Taiwan practitioner. The call lasted over 10 minutes. The officer had me listen to it.
This practitioner started the conversation with, “You are [name], right?! You have been persecuting Falun Gong and your name has been put on the evildoers’ list compiled by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong...”
This officer said to me indignantly, “How did I persecute you? Did I beat you? Did I scold you? I am not afraid of you exposing me...”
I do not wish to blame the Taiwan practitioner who made the call. As cultivators of Falun Dafa, our goal is to save people, especially those who were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). When we talk to people, our attitude, tone of voice, speed of speech, wording, as well as the perspective from which we speak must be kind and compassionate so that people will accept easily. We should avoid provoking people’s negative emotions and thoughts; otherwise, it will not only fail to save them but also push these people to the other side.
For people who have not lived in mainland China, it is hard to understand and imagine the mentality of Chinese people growing up under the control of the communist regime. They are generally on guard all the time; they are closed-minded and very touchy about certain topics. Those low-level Communist Party officials have been deceived the most especially. One could easily provoke the negative factors within them if one does not pay attention.
I imagine the conversation could be a lot more effective if we start with something like, “[name], how are you! It is a predestined relationship for us to talk over the phone today. I hope we could be friends and understand each other better. I heard there is a Falun Dafa practitioner detained at your place. This is not something we good people should be doing! Helping others is helping ourselves. Falun Dafa is a cultivation practice that teaches people to be truthful, compassionate, and tolerant. You would be blessed for protecting good people...”
This is my current understanding. If there is something wrong, please kindly correct me.
