(Minghui.org) Ms. Guo Shufen of Changchun City, Jilin Province, was stopped by a residential committee staff member when she left her apartment complex on December 13, 2021. A male police officer then appeared and ordered her to take them to her apartment so that they could search it.
Because Ms. Guo, in her 70s, refused to comply, the officer started to drag her toward her apartment building. Terrified, she collapsed. The officer then dragged her on the ground to the building entrance.
Ms. Guo felt tightness in her chest and couldn’t get up. She sat on the ground—in -10 °C (14 °F) weather—for over 20 minutes before she had the strength to stand up.
The officer snatched her key from her pocket. Over ten more officers showed up out of nowhere and entered her home. They ordered Ms. Guo to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, they forced her family to sign on her behalf and took picture of it.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The police searched every corner of Ms. Guo’s home, including under a flower pot. Distressed that she couldn’t stop them, Ms. Guo fainted. Her Falun Gong books and materials and her cellphone were confiscated.
Before they left, the police warned her family that 20 Falun Gong books were enough to send her to prison. They asked for her daughter’s phone number and said they would call her in the future. The harassment infuriated her family.
According to available information collected by Minghui, 239 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Changchun in 2020, 316 practitioners were harassed, and 14 were sentenced to prison. Four practitioners passed away as a result of the persecution.
