(Minghui.org) I am an over 60-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner who left my hometown to avoid the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of the spiritual practice. Despite my situation, I wanted my family to know about the goodness of Dafa, so I decided to install a satellite dish to receive NTD television programs.
I asked my husband, “Shall we install an NTD satellite dish for you to watch the Shen Yun performances and get real information about China and abroad?” My husband said, “I am afraid that you will be interfered with and persecuted by the CCP agents.” He returned to our hometown a few days later, and I decided to install it regardless.
I found a practitioner experienced in installing the dishes to help me. Our apartment is on the seventh floor, so the dish had to go on the roof. I carried the three-meter-long ladder from Section Six, where I live, to Section Three as it was the only place we could access the roof. It took the practitioner over two hours of running between the two sections to install the dish. It was already dark but he did not have time to eat dinner. He went to another practitioner’s home to debug the reception of the satellite signal.
That person lives in the same community as I, and she lives on the sixth floor. I carried the ladder from my home to her building. The practitioner who installed my dish started debugging the signal in the dark. Then he left without eating or drinking anything. I really appreciated his dedication and hard work. Just then, an idea came to me, I should take up maintenance of satellite reception signals and lighten some of this practitioner’s and the other technical practitioner’s burden.
A practitioner told me, “I lost the NTD television signal. The technical practitioner has to work every day and it is not easy for him to come here. Are you available to look at it for me?” I was honest with her, “I can only install a set-top box, and nothing else.” She said, “My husband is not a practitioner and he is anxious to watch NTD. Please come and help.” I realized it was no accident that she had come to me. I asked Master Li (Falun Dafa’s founder) to strengthen my wisdom and went with her.
The couple lives on the fifth floor, and the satellite dish was installed on the outside wall next to a window. In order to reach the satellite dish, I had to step on a rusted and rotted flower planter. I was a little afraid at first but soon realized I was doing a righteous thing, and I would be safe with Master’s protection.
I climbed out the window and put one foot on the flower container and kept the other foot on the window frame. I successfully loosened the screws with a wrench and was able to rotate the dish in order to find the signal. The practitioner’s husband reminded me to act safely. I told him I was protected by Master. With Master’s guidance, I successfully found the signal and the practitioner’s family was able to watch the NTDTV programs again. When her husband praised me, I told him, “It is not me. It is Dafa’s Master who helped me with this.”
A practitioner from my Fa-study group also lost the NTDTV signal and asked me to find a practitioner to help her. I told her I would help after we finished reading. I saw she had some doubts and to reassure her I said, “I already have some experience and can help you debug it.”
She lived on the 10th floor. Her kitchen had a small window. I stood on top of a small cabinet and leaned outside the window. I loosened the screws and rotated the satellite dish while asking the practitioner to check the reception on her TV. I heard a sound from the dish and the practitioner said she was receiving the signal. The NTDTV signal was very clear and she was happy. I noticed that the wall was crumbling where the satellite dish was attached. In order to prevent the dish from swinging in the wind, I got sand and cement and fixed the wall. After that, the signal was stable.
One day, a fellow practitioner came to my home anxiously asking for help because she could not receive NTDTV anymore and could not find another practitioner to fix it. Her home was far from mine and would have to transfer to several buses to get there. My first thought was that it would take a lot of time. Then I realized I was wrong to think that, since our practitioners should always think of others first. I and another practitioner went to her home the next day.
She lives on the first floor and the satellite dish was installed on the glass roof of a sunroom which could only be accessed through her neighbor’s home on the second floor. However, the neighbor was not at home, and so the practitioner borrowed a ladder and put it in front of the sunroom. I used the ladder, which swayed a lot, and finally got up to the roof.
The roof was about six-and-a-half feet by three feet and was sloped. I could see through to the room below and was a little afraid. I asked Master for help and recited in my heart, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good.” I worked on the dish for a quite while, but the practitioner told me that there was still no signal.
I realized that the building in front of her home was blocking the signal and making it harder to debug. I asked Master for help. Soon the practitioner inside said, “The signal is on and is pretty good.” We thanked Master for helping us find the signal.
The process of helping practitioners to debug satellite signals is also a process of cultivating my xinxing and getting rid of the attachments of showing off, zealotry, fear, impatience, and doing things. Now, when fellow practitioners nearby have issues with the NTDTV signal, I am obligated to help solve them.
All the successes I have had have been done with Master’s help. I am in my 60s and don't have much technical knowledge. Without Master’s help, I could not do the job at all.
I must study the Fa well, do the three things well, and awaken more sentient beings in the future to repay Master's compassion and protection.
