(Minghui.org) Six Hengyang City, Hunan Province, residents are facing prosecution for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zou Hongyan was first arrested on December 8, 2020, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. After she was released after five days of detention, the Hengyang Railroad Domestic Security Office began to monitor her daily activities and phone calls.
Director Zhao of the Domestic Security Office arrested Ms. Zou and another practitioner Ms. Chen on June 12, 2021. While Ms. Chen was released due to her advanced age and health, Ms. Zou was taken to the Hengyang City Detention Center on the same day.
Hours later, Zhao led a group of officers to break into the residence of Mr. Peng Junnan, a 78-year-old former award-winning middle school teacher. While Mr. Peng wasn’t home when the police came, they confiscated his Falun Gong books, related materials, printer, computer, cellphones, and some copy paper. The police arrested Mr. Peng when he returned at around 11 a.m. They attempted to detain him, but he was refused admission due to his age and poor health.
Also on the same day, Mr. Xie Haiyun, his wife Ms. Li Fengying, and Ms. Jiang Fuxiu were arrested by officers from the Shigu District Domestic Security Office and Qingshanjie Police Station. Their homes were ransacked.
Mr. Xie was released the next day due to his health condition. Not long after Ms. Li and Ms. Jiang were released on July 11 from one month of detention, they were arrested again by the Hengyang Railroad Domestic Security Office and taken to the Hengyang City Detention Center.
The police later submitted all six practitioners’ cases to the Shigu District Procuratorate, which is now in the process of indicting them.
The police contacted Mr. Peng’s daughter on September 26 and told her to tell her father to go to the hospital for a physical exam. When Mr. Peng did, prosecutor Tang of the Shigu District Procuratorate ordered him to sign a dozen forms, in preparation for the indictment. When he refused to comply, Tang ordered his daughter to sign for him. The police videotaped the entire process.
