(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Yongchun, 49, from the Boyujuan District, Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, was arrested in 2015 for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. She has endured inhuman torture in Dabei Prison, located in Shenyang City in the same province, for five years.
Ms. Chen was disoriented when she was released on October 18, 2020. She was gaunt and unable to walk. Her eyes were sunken. The harassment continued after her release. Her husband was heartbroken and had no choice but to take her to a hospital for treatment.
As of today, Ms. Chen has not fully recovered.
Ms. Chen suffered multiple diseases, including bronchitis, constipation, insufficient blood supply to the brain, cervical spondylosis, and dizziness, before she took up Falun Gong in 2008. Back then, she looked much older than her age. In 2008, her left breast started to ache and she had spots on her face that were similar to those of breast cancer patients.
One of her employees introduced her to Falun Gong. A few days after she gave it a try, all her diseases disappeared and she embraced the joy of being illness-free.
Ms. Chen firmly believes that evil does not suppress righteousness and that good and evil will be rewarded accordingly. Like many Falun Gong practitioners, she filed a criminal complaint with her real name against the previous Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin in May 2015, for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.
Several police officers from the Boyujuan Domestic Security Office arrested Ms. Chen from her store on October 19, 2015. They also confiscated her computer, printer, and Falun Gong books. She was taken to Yingkou Detention Center that evening. A few months later, she was illegally sentenced to a five-year prison term and transferred to Dabei Prison.
While imprisoned, Ms. Chen was forced to do hard labor and frequently had to work past midnight. She was often tortured by inmates instigated by the prison guards. The overtime labor work deprived her of all of her personal activities. The physical and mental injuries from torture caused her to lose weight rapidly. She was often in a state of trance and lack of appetite.
Ms. Chen's jail term ended on October 18, 2020. Her husband unexpectedly had to pick her up at the prison hospital. Because of the persecution, she was disoriented, bony, and unable to walk.
