Police Drop Cases Against Three Falun Gong Practitioners

Aug. 22, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Anhui Province, China

(Minghui.org) Three Falun Gong practitioners in Hefei City, Anhui Province recently had their cases dismissed by the police.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Ding Rongzhi was arrested on her way to Ms. Zhou Yuying’s home on July 9, 2019. Ms. Zhou, Ms. Huang Yuqing, 58, and Ms. Zhang Ying were arrested on the next day while studying Falun Gong’s teachings together at Ms. Huang’s home.

Ms. Huang’s lawyer soon submitted a letter to the procuratorate, urging the prosecutor not to approve her arrest, since she didn’t violate any law by reading a book at home. The prosecutor didn’t approve Ms. Huang’s arrest and she was released on bail on August 16. The other three practitioners were released on bail shortly afterwards.

In the next few months, the local Falun Gong practitioners worked closely with the practitioners’ lawyers to seek justice for them. As the practitioners’ one-year bail expired in July 2020, the police have dropped the cases against Ms. Huang, Ms. Zhou and Ms. Ding.

The status of Ms. Zhang's case remains to be investigated.
