(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Cao Huashan and his wife Ms. Li Shulian of Yan’an City have been detained for six months. It was said that Ms. Li was in the hospital's high dependency unit. She could not move her body and lost bowel control. Mr. Cao's whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Cao and Ms. Li were arrested and taken to the Yulin Detention Center by officers from the Yulin Domestic Security Division on December 15, 2019.
Ms. Pu Huiqun of Yan’an City, 67, was arrested by officers from the Yan’an City Domestic Security Division around July 2019. Someone reported her while she distributed Falun Gong flyers. She has been held in the Zhuanyaowan Detention Center. Ms. Pu was subjected to forced labor several times and was tortured while she was imprisoned.
Ms. Zhang Lingmei, 77, of Wuhan City, was arrested on the morning of July 15, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Xiaji Police Station. Huangpi District Police Department issued Administrative Punishment Decision that afternoon and put her in 10 days detention, from July 16, 2020, to July 26, 2020. She was not sent to jail because she was over 70. At night, the case officer said that she would serve the 10-day administrative detention at home.
Mr. Chen Dong was harassed at home by officers from the Shulan Domestic Security Division and the Huancheng Police Station on the afternoon of July 15, 2020. Ms. Wang Yaqin who was visiting Mr. Chen was arrested at the same time. The officers then went to Ms. Wang's home, ransacked the place, and seized about 6,000 yuan in cash which had information written about Falun Gong. They also took 20 Falun Gong books, discs, and banners. Mr. Chen was released the same day because of his poor health. Ms. Wang was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center.
Ms. Feng Xiuzhi was arrested and put in 15 days of detention on July 15, 2020. That afternoon, Ms. Zhang Yu’e's home was ransacked by three officers. She was arrested and taken to the Jishu Police Station. Police claimed that considering her old age, she would be fined 700 yuan and detained for 13 days. Ms. Zhang said she did not have the money. She was released at 8 p.m.
On July 17, 2020, agents from the Labor Sector, Tianhe Neighborhood Committee went to Ms. Zhang Xiuqin's home and photographed her. The agents then went to Mr. Zheng's home and Ms. Liu's home. But Mr. Zheng and Ms. Liu were not there.
On July 16, 2020, Ms. Tai Lijuan and Ms. Zhao Jinlan were ordered to report to the Institute of Justice, where the officers tried to force them to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. They said it was an order from the Shulan Justice Bureau.
Ms. Wang Shuqin, 76, of Changchun City, was harassed at her daughter's home in Hefei City, Anhui Province by five officers from the local Wuhu Police Station at 7 a.m. on July 17, 2020. The officers were led by the station's director. They ransacked the place, confiscated over 50 Falun Gong books and other properties. The director threatened to take Ms. Wang to the police station. While they were carrying her out, Ms. Wang had a heart attack. They then ordered her daughter to take her to the police station the following Tuesday, July 21.
Mr. Hao Mingxing of Gaochengzi Village was arrested at home by officers from the Songhuajiang Town Police Station on the afternoon of July 16, 2020.
Ms. Sun Hongyan was harassed at home by Heping Village chief Zhu Yongqiu, secretary of Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and another official on the afternoon of July 16, 2020. They claimed that someone reported her when she distributed Falun Gong flyers, and she had to “study” in a brainwashing center for six days. If she did not go, she would be taken there by force. Ms. Sun was sent back home on the afternoon of July 18 because she could not hear.
Ms. Sun Xiuhua of Shulan City was arrested in Shangling Town Police Station in Heyuan City on the morning of July 17, 2020. She went there to get the Household Register for her newborn grandson following a call from the police station.
Ms. Sun went to Heyuan City to look after her daughter-in-law and the newborn child. She was taken back to Shulan City after the arrest.
Ms. Xiong Guiju of Wuhan City was arrested at home by more than 10 officers from the Hongshan District Domestic Security Division and the Beigang Police Station, including deputy director of the police station, around 7 a.m. on July 15, 2020. They seized her computer and other properties and took her to the police station. Later, they took her to the Qingling Community Hospital for a physical exam, then to the Wuhan City First Detention Center. But the center refused to admit her because her blood pressure was very high. Ms. Xiong was released on the evening of July 17.
Ms. Song Yihui, Mr. Cui Fangbin, and Li Guixin (gender unknown) of Tiexi District were arrested by officers from the Huanghai Road Police Station on July 16, 2020, when they were distributing Falun Gong flyers in Yuhong District. They were released.
Ms. Guo Peiying of Nong’an County was arrested at home by officers from the Nong’an County Police Department and the Baota Police Station at 8 a.m. on July 15, 2020. They seized her Zhuan Falun book. She was released after they forced her daughter-in-law to write a guarantee statement for her, to not practice Falun Gong.
Ms. Dong Yanjun of Laishui County was arrested at home on April 12, 2019. Officers ransacked her home three times. She was held in the Baoding Detention Center and sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison by the Laishui County Court. She is being incarcerated in the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.
Ms. Yang Wen and Liu Fuchun (gender unknown) of Changsha City were tried by the Wangcheng District Court on the afternoon of June 22, 2020. Ms. Yang was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan. Liu was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. They appealed.
Ms. Wang Jingxiang of Tianjin was arrested by officers from the Pudong Police Station on the afternoon of July 16, 2020, after someone reported her when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Wang Changyu of Tianjin was arrested by officers from the Xinli Village Police Station on the morning of July 18, 2020, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and other properties were confiscated. She is held at the Dongli Detention Center.
Ms. Li Wenfang and Ms. Yang of Bohai Oil Corp were arrested by officers from the Business Center District Police Station and the Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 17, 2020, after someone reported them when they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. They were released at 3 a.m. Upon their release, officers told them to stay home the following week because the police would monitor them.
Ms. Zhang Yumei, Liu Jun (gender unknown), Ms. Chen Xiuqing, Ms. Cao Yulian, Ms. Xu Yanfei, and a driver (non-practitioner) of Chicheng County were arrested together. Chicheng County Procuratorate submitted their case to the Xuanhua County Procuratorate with the intention of placing them on trial in the Xuanhua County Court. The Xuanhua County Procuratorate reviewed the case and concluded that evidence was inadequate to bring charges. The case was returned to the Chicheng County Procuratorate on June 24, 2020. To re-open the case, the latter needed to provide new evidence.
Ms. Wei Xiuxia and Ms. Ren Jun’ai are being held at Hengshui Detention Center. They were tried online by Jing County Court on the morning of July 11, 2020. The court refused to let their family members observe the trial.
Ms. Zhou Jing was arrested by officers from the Xicheng Domestic Security Division and the East Changan Street Police Station on the evening of July 16, 2020. Her home was ransacked. Even the door glass was smashed. It was said that she was taken to the Xicheng District Case Center, but the center refused to take her.
