(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in eigh provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Lin Chunzi, 75, of Korean ethnic minority lives in the family quarters of the Hailin Forestry Bureau. She has been arrested seven times and has been forced to pay over 18,000 yuan for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Lin has no source of income, so her family members were forced to pay her fines. The police demanded that her son and relatives give them money. They even went to her relative’s restaurant to eat without paying for it.
Both Ms. Lin's cell phones (worth more than 4,000 yuan) were confiscated. Her older sister was fined over 20,000 yuan. The police took over 20,000 yuan in cash from her younger sister.
Ms. Lin was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to a five-year prison term. She was taken to the Harbin Women's Prison in August 2004.
Mr. Han Junde was recently sentenced to an eight-and-a-half-year prison term, and secretly taken to the Tangshan Prison.
Mr. Wang Pengyi, 70, a retired worker from a subsidiary company of the Food Bureau, was arrested on September 1, 2015, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
He was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Dongzhou District Court, and incarcerated in the Dongling Prison, where he was brutally tortured to the brink of death. After he was released on September 1, 2019, he went to the bank to get his pension. He was told that his pension had been suspended.
Mr. Wang has been not been seen since June 23, 2020.
Ms. Shi Qiaoyun, nearly 80 years old, from Huashi Town, Xiangtan County, received a verdict from the Yuhu Court (sequence number 2020-Hunan-030-criminal-initial-#135), that deprived her of freedom of movement between May 26 and August 25, 2020. She was ordered to wear an electronic watch that monitors her.
One month later, she asked officers from the Huashi Town Police Station to take off the watch as it was causing her heart problems. The police forced her to pay 100 yuan. They also installed a card into an old cellphone which has since monitored her movements and restricts her from going out.
Ms. Lu Mengjun and her mother (in her late 70s) were arrested at home when they were about to go grocery shopping at 7:00 a.m. on June 2, 2020. Their home was ransacked, and a computer and printer were confiscated.
Both women were interrogated. Ms. Lu’s mother was released at 2:00 a.m. that night. Ms. Lu was taken to the Xiangtan City Detention Center.
Mr. Gao Bin was arrested by officers from the Huama Police Station on June 18, 2020.
Officers from the Wuqing District 610 Office and the director of the Chenzui Township Security Committee went to Ms. Zhang Yuzhen’s home and harassed her on the afternoon of June 28, 2020.
They told her to stop practicing Falun Gong, and threatened to take her to a brainwashing center. The officers also threatened her family that their paychecks would be stopped.
Ms. Wang Shuli from Yushu City was intercepted by Zhao Wenfeng from the Yushu Domestic Security Division and two other people on her way home after taking her child to school on the morning of July 2, 2020.
She was taken to the Yushu Police Department for interrogation. The officers searched her bag and found Falun Dafa keepsakes. They decided to detain her for five days. She refused to sign any paperwork, and was released later that day.
Ms. Yue Xiuhua from the Pinggu District was arrested in the early evening of July 6, 2020, and taken to the Yuyang Police Station.
The Changping Police Department passed Ms. Huang Miaoying’s case to the Changping District Procuratorate on February 24, 2020. She was told that she would be released on bail. The procuratorate brought her case to the Changping Court on July 3.
When Ms. Yu Guihong returned home for her mother’s funeral on June 25, 2020, she was arrested by Huang Jianming and other officers from the Dushan County Domestic Security Division.
Five people, including the director of the Baohua Residential Community and a residential police officer, went to the home of a practitioner with the last name Yu on June 18, 2020. They ransacked the place, and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Personnel from the Yunfeng Sub-district Administration Office called Ms. Yang’s son, and told him to go in for questioning on June 28, 2020. He was forced to sign a guarantee statement to ensure that his mother would not go out and distribute Falun Gong materials or talk to people about Falun Gong, otherwise he would be held responsible.
Four officers from the Zhenxing Police Station in the Chiping District and officers from Qihe County broke into Ms. Lu Jinying’s home and arrested her on the morning of July 6, 2020. They ransacked her home and confiscated a large number of personal belongings.
Ms. Wang Fengchen was held in the Hulan Prison, where she was tortured to the brink of death. She was taken to the Harbin Reclamation Cancer Hospital for emergency treatment.
Ms. Zhao Jinglan, 65, from Guchengzi Sub-district in the Wanghua District, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division and the Guchengzi Police Station on July 1, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
Four people ransacked her home and confiscated a laptop and printer that afternoon. She was taken into custody in Xinbin County the following day. The facility where she is being held is not known.
Ms. Chen Songyan from Bei’an City was sentenced to a seven-and-a-half-year prison term by the Bai’an Court in November 2019. She appealed to the Heihe City Intermediate Court.
A second trial has been scheduled for the morning of July 16 at the No. 1 Court of the Heihe Intermediate Court.
