(Minghui.org) Eighteen Falun Gong practitioners in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province were arrested on June 14, under the order of the local 610 Office, an extralegal agency created specifically to persecute Falun Gong. Nine of the practitioners remain in detention at the time of writing.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual practice based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999 due to its tremendous popularity and revival of traditional values that the communist regime is seeking to destroy.
Two dozen police officers broke into the home of Peizhen (surname unknown) in the afternoon and arrested her and seven other practitioners who were studying Falun Gong teachings at her home. The seven guests included: Mr. Chen Hongyuan, Ms. Wu Yueyin, Ms. Yao Shaohong, Ms. Yao Jingjiao, Ms. Jiang Biyin, Ms. Cai Wenjun and Ms. Cai Hui, most of whom are in their 70s and 80s.
With the exception of Ms. Cai Hui, the police ransacked all the other practitioners’ homes. In particular, the officers stayed at Mr. Chen Hongyuan’s home for several hours and confiscated his computer and printer.
The police broke into the home of Wanzhen (surname unknown), when she was studying the teachings of Falun Gong with three other practitioners, including Liqing (surname unknown), Ms. Wu Rongduan, and a female practitioner whose name is unknown.
Irregardless of the fact that Wanzhen has breast cancer and is emaciated, the police still arrested her and her three guests. The three other practitioners’ homes were also ransacked.
A group of 19 officers broke into Ms. Huang Yanzhi’s home and arrested her. Her husband, who is in his 70s and doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was handcuffed and beaten by the police.
Other practitioners who were arrested and had their homes ransacked the same day are Ms. Lin Jieshan, Ms. Jiang Xi’e, Ms. Liu Chunlan, Mu (given name not known) and Aunt Rong.
The police also went to Ms. Cai Hui’s home and attempted to arrest her, though she had already been arrested at Peizhen’s home.
Nine practitioners, including Peizhen, Ms. Yao Jingjiao, Ms. Jiang Biyin, Ms. Cai Wenjun, Wanzhen, Ms. Wu Rongduan, Ms. Cai Hui, Mu and the female practitioner whose name is unknown, were released shortly afterwards.
The other nine practitioners, including Mr. Chen Hongyuan, Ms. Yao Shaohong, Ms. Wu Yueyin, Ms. Huang Yanzhi, Ms. Liu Chunlan, Ms. Jiang Xi’e, Ms. Lin Jieshan, Ms. Hong Jinglan, and Liqing, remain in custody at the Jieyang City Detention Center at the time of writing.
