July 1, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A procuratorate in Fushun City, Liaoning Province recently approved the arrest of a Falun Gong practitioner in order to meet a quota.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Zhang Guixia is a 55-year-old resident of Xinbin County, which is under the administration of Fushun City. She was arrested on June 9, 2020 after being reported for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was held at the local police station for 24 hours and then sent to Xinbin County Detention Center. The police searched her home on the same day of her arrest.

The Shuncheng District Procuratorate in Fushun City, which is about 80 miles away from Xinbin County, recently approved her arrest. When her family questioned why her case wasn’t handled by her local Xinbin County Procuratorate, they were told that the Shuncheng District Procuratorate needed to use her to fill its quota.

Ms. Zhang, a beverage company employee, took up Falun Gong in 1996. In the past 21 years of persecution, she has been arrested multiple times and served three years in a labor camp and four years in prison.
