(Minghui.org) Fourteen Falun Gong practitioners are being held in Wuqing Detention Center in Tianjin, according to information collected by Minghui.org. Five of them have been sentenced to prison. The other nine practitioners, including one who has been detained for 2.5 years, are awaiting verdicts or facing trial.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. He Daiping was first arrested on August 25, 2017. She fell in the detention center on November 23, 2017 and broke her hip. She was released on bail on the next day. Ms. He was arrested again on April 23, 2019. She appeared in Wuqing Court on July 23. Her family wasn’t informed of the hearing. It was reported that she has been sentenced to five years.
Ms. Wang Haiqin, a middle school teacher, was arrested on January 17, 2019, after being reported by a student for talking about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to four years in January 2020.
Ms. Zhao Shuzhen was arrested on the evening of April 20, 2019. She was sentenced to four years in early 2020.
Ms. Guo Huili was arrested on September 25, 2019. The police cut off her power supply in the morning and arrested her when she came out to check on it. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Guo appeared in Wuqing Court on December 30, 2019 and sentenced to four years in late January 2020.
Ms. Zhang Fuqin was arrested in late October 2019 while talking to people about Falun Gong. It was reported in May 2020 that Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one year.
Ms. Zhou Houmei was arrested in a police sweep on December 28, 2017. She was tried by Wuqing District Court around October 2018 and is still waiting for her verdict.
Ms. Niu Yueqin was arrested on July 5, 2019. The police accused her of attempting to hang up banners about Falun Gong on the evening of May 12, 2016.
Ms. Gao Yanhong was arrested on August 26, 2019. She has been indicted and is awaiting trial by Wuqing District Court.
Ms. Guo Yiqian was arrested on September 3, 2019. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Zhang Chunxia was arrested on September 4, 2019. The Wuqing District Court scheduled a hearing of her in early 2020, but later canceled it.
Ms. Li Shunhua and Ms. Hou Shujun were arrested in late October 2019.
Ms. Ma Qingxia was arrested on December 5, 2019. Two groups of police officers ransacked her home. Her arrest has been approved.
Ms. Gao Shoushun was arrested on February 9, 2020. Her home was ransacked.
