(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 27 cities or counties in 14 provinces, where at least 62 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Luo Guizhen was tried by the Chuanshan District Court on the morning of November 19, 2020. Her lawyer pleaded her innocence with well-presented facts. She was sentenced to eight months in prison.
After Dananmen Police Station deputy director Zhan Wei and city domestic security officers extracted confessions through coaxing and coercion, cases for Ms. Shu Yulan and her sister Ms. Shu Yulian were turned over to the Taihu Procuratorate.
Ms. Yan Yuanrong from Wenjiang District went to the Wenjiachang market to buy things on August 21, 2020. Just a few minutes after she entered the market, Hu Fudong and other police school students found several Internet circumvention software cards in the market. These students stopped Ms. Yan. They questioned her for a long time, and did not let her leave until after forcibly checking her battery car to make sure she was not carrying any Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Yan went to the market on June 27, 2020. Hu stopped her and reported her to the police. She was arrested by officers from the Gongping Police Station. She was held in the Xindu District Drug Rehabilitation Center for 14 days.
Two officers from the Yongning Town Police Station went to Ms. Yan’s home and took pictures on October 24, 2019. They also threatened to take her away and forbid her family to stay in Yongning Town. When they left, they said they would come again.
Ms. Li Feiyan was harassed and threatened by officers from the Shaodong 610 Office in October and November 2020. The 610 Office members demanded that she sign the three statements.
Ms. Shi Rongjie is an employee of the Shouchuang Water System Co., Ltd in Beidaihe District.
Security director Du Hailin and office director Zu Guohong of her work unit approached her on November 18, 2020, and said that higher authorities told her not to practice Falun Gong.
The company’s general manager Su Kui and deputy general manager Zhang Yongli talked to her again on behalf of the company on November 19 and asked her to give up her belief in Falun Gong, saying that it was higher authorities who asked the company to do so.
Ms. Xu Fengmei from Daxing District will be tried by the Daxing District Court on the morning of November 23, 2020.
Ms. Guo Xiulan from Changping District will be tried by the Changping District Court on the morning of December 3.
Mr. Li Hongshan was arrested on November 18, 2020. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Officers from the Huimin County Police Department, the Domestic Security Division, and the Chengguan Police Department went to elderly Ms. Wang Yuying’s home and forced her to sign and fingerprint a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. She refused. She was fined 10,000 yuan for posting Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Liu Shufeng has been held in the Binzhou Detention Center for 50 days. She was prosecuted by the procuratorate.
Ms. Wang Yuhua was arrested by the Huimin County Domestic Security Division. She was released after being held for one month.
Mr. Liu Weidong was detained for three days.
Practitioners Fu Tianlu, Meng Kunling, He Li, and Yu Ping were taken to the Weiyuan County Detention Center on October 26, 2020. They were taken to the Shuangcai Detention Center in Dongxing District after being held for 15 days.
Yanghuichao Community personnel went to Ms. Liu Ying’s home after 8 p.m. on November 17, 2020. They harassed her and took pictures of her.
A man and a woman from the Yejinqixiu Community police officers went to the home of Ms. Peng Huaizhen, who is in her 80s, on the morning of November 12, 2020. They harassed her and asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. They pressured her to sign paperwork. She refused.
Ms. Wu Menghua, in her 40s, was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on February 14, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Desheng Police Station in Xicheng District.
Over 20 people from the Anzhenli Police Station, the Desheng Police Station, and the Anzhenli Residential Committee ransacked her home on February 15. They confiscated her computer, national ID card, work permit, and all other documents. They then ransacked her sister’s home and confiscated MP3 players. They forced her younger sister to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. They then ransacked her mother Ms. Wang Shufang’s home.
After she was taken to the police station on the evening of February 14, Ms. Wu was tortured for over 30 hours. The officers grabbed her hands to force her to do fingerprinting. Her hands swelled like a steamed bun, and her legs were also swollen. She was taken to a detention center on February 16.
She was held in the detention center for two nights. Shadows were seen in her lungs during the physical examination. She was released on bail.
Ms. Wu returned to her mother’s home on February 18. Her legs were swollen and she had blood in her stool. Because of her poor health, she needed her mother to take care of her.
The director of the Desheng Police Station sent two security guards to monitor her outside her home 24 hours a day. They did not allow her to go out.
She has been under surveillance for over three months. During the period, the security guards often knocked on the door, saying that they needed to take pictures, and the residential police officer often came to her home. Ms. Wu and her mother endured significant stress.
Ms. Jin Changlin’s case was brought to the Wujiang Court in early August 2020. She was tried on the afternoon of October 30. In court, Ms. Jin’s daughter defended her mother’s innocence, and the human rights lawyer and Ms. Jin herself also defended her innocence. At the end of the trial, the court did not pronounce a verdict. Ms. Jin returned home with her daughter.
Practitioners in Yubei District were financially persecuted. Five female practitioners’ pensions have been suspended. They are: Chen Changying, Tian Qimei, He Xiurong, Ren Xianglian, and Wang Aihua.
Ms. Chen receives only 500 yuan from her pension each month. The remaining is being clawed back to make up for pensions she received when in prison, which the government has since decided to take back.
A group of people broke into Ms. Liang Guangzhen’s home and ransacked it on October 25, 2020. They confiscated over 50 Falun Dafa books and all items related to Falun Gong.
Seven people including the neighborhood committee director and 610 Office head broke into Ms. Liang’s home again on the morning of October 29. They arrested her and took her to the Zhanqian Road Police Station. She was released the following evening.
Ms. Liang was arrested by officers from the Maoming City 610 Office on September 20, 2012, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to four years in prison and held in the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison. After she came back from prison, she was in poor health. She was still harassed by the neighborhood committee and the police station on numerous occasions.
Domestic Security Division officers claimed to be conducting a household survey and tricked Ms. Hong Guimei into opening the door at around 11 a.m. on November 19, 2020. They said that she was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and arrested her.
She refused to cooperate with interrogation with transcripts, taking photographs, collecting fingerprints at the police station, or taking blood samples in the hospital. The police restrained her to complete the procedure, and her body was injured in multiple places.
At 3 p.m. the officers went to her home again with a search warrant and found nothing. She has returned home.
Ms. Wang Yuhuan’s husband received a phone call from someone who claimed to be Li Zhe from Huadian City 610 Office on November 19, 2020. Li told him to ask his wife to go to a brainwashing center on November 23. Li threatened that if she did not go, the officials would not let their granddaughter go to school. Li also asked Ms. Wang’s husband to go with her, which stressed the family out.
Two officers from the Banzhuyuan Town Police Station in Xindu District stepped into Ms. Xie Suqun’s home on November 11, 2020, as soon as she got back. They asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. One officer took photos of her.
People from the Dayingmen Police Station, the Dayingmen Sub-district, and the Donglaili Residential Committee in Hexi District went to Ms. Ma Enmin’s home twice to harass her a few days ago. They pressured her to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. She refused.
On November 19 the officers called and told her daughter to go to the Dayingmen Police Station.
Ms. Wang Yanzhi and her sister Ms. Wang Yanfang have been arrested for over a year. It was reported recently that Ms. Wang Yanzhi was tried and sentenced to seven years in prison in mid-July 2020. Ms. Wang Yanfang was released.
Ms. Wang Meiying from Hengshan County in Hengyang City, Hunan Province, was arrested by officers from the Panyu District Police Department in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province in September 2020. She was held in the Shawan Detention in Panyu District. Her family was intimidated and still dared not help her by hiring a lawyer.
Two female Chengnan Community officials went to Ms. Liao Shuyang’s home on the afternoon of November 3. They told her that she was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials. It was entirely made up. They also looked around her home. She is in her 70s.
Two female officers from the Chengguan Police Station called Ms. Yu Qingyun, who is in her 70s, on November 6. They told Ms. Yu to stop practicing Falun Gong.
Party secretary Yang of Zijin Community called Ms. Cai Zhonghua’s family and harassed them on November 6. Yang also sent people to her home to harass her, saying that she was using the Internet improperly, and her cell phone had been monitored.
Two residential police officers from the Qinglong Police Station went to the homes of Mr. Chen Weimin and Mr. Guo Guangyue in mid-November 2020. They took photos as soon as they entered the room, saying that it was an order from higher up.
Officers from the Tongbai County Domestic Security Division, led by division head Hou Jincai, harassed most practitioners in the area in October 2020. They ransacked three practitioners’ homes.
Practitioner Wang Ping (gender unknown) was arrested and taken to the county detention center for 14 days. Wang was then taken to the Nanyang City Detention Center for 15 days, before returning home.
Ms. Chen Chen from Qingtongxia City has been out of touch since November 6, 2020, and it was likely that she was arrested that day.
She was previously arrested in December 2015, and later sentenced to three years in prison. She was held in the Ningxia Women’s Prison. She has only been home for a little over a year.
Ms. Guan Qiuping was followed and arrested around November 13, 2020, by officers from the Fengbeipu Township Police Station in Faku County, Shenyang City.
Deputy head Li Jianxia of Nanmen Town in Kaizhou District called Ms. Wang Ruihua’s husband, around August 14, 2020, and demanded that Ms. Wang go to the town office to sign paperwork. Ms. Wang did not go.
Li called Ms. Wang on August 19 for signing the paperwork. Li recorded the conversation with Ms. Wang, played it to someone else, and said that she was stubborn.
Ms. Wang went to her daughter’s home in Chongqing on August 22. She turned off her cell phone. Li called her husband every few days, threatening and intimidating him, saying that whoever took in Ms. Wang was guilty of “harboring a criminal.” Li pressured him to take government officials to his daughter’s home in Chongqing to force his wife to sign statements. Ms. Wang’s daughter was afraid. She dared not let her mother stay at her place. Ms. Wang left that evening.
Ms. Wang’s husband was frequently harassed and threatened and had a nervous breakdown. He was on the verge of committing suicide. Given the situation of her husband, Ms. Wang called deputy head Li to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and tried to persuade Li to act kindly. Li shouted that, if Ms. Wang did not cooperate, her pension would be suspended starting January 2021 and she would be detained.
Ms. Dong Lixin from Hongqiao District was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term by the Hongqiao District Court. She was taken away by people sent from the court. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Chen Gang, who is not a practitioner, visited Myanmar and Thailand at the end of August 2020 as a tourist. Chen received a lot of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials, as well as a copy of Zhuan Falun, at Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Thailand.
When returning to China, Mr. Chen was found at the Gasa Airport checkpoint to have carried Falun Gong materials and books. He was detained on the spot, handcuffed, and taken to the Gasa Airport Police Station. The officers decided that he would either pay a 5,000 yuan fine, or be detained for 15 days. Mr. Chen was held in custody there overnight. At night, he tried to learn to sit in the lotus position. He was spotted by an officer named Wang. Wang kicked him four or five times and slapped him in the head.
The next morning, Mr. Chen was forced to pay a fine of 5,000 yuan before he was allowed to go home.
Party secretaries from the Yongyi Community and the Xinguang Community in Longshui Town, Dazu District, people in charge of the 610 Office at district and town levels, and police officers went to the homes of Ms. Long Changqiong and Mr. Zhang Zishu and harassed them on October 19, 2020. They forced the two practitioners to sign and imprint their personal seals on the “five statements” renouncing Falun Gong. These officials also viciously attacked and slandered Dafa. The two practitioners refused the demand from these officials.
Ms. Zheng Xiping was harassed at her store by the village officials on November 10, 2020. She was asked if she was still practicing Falun Gong.
Three people from Tanwan Town government went to her store the following day and said that provincial officials would be inspecting the area and questioning Falun Gong practitioners. They told her to repeat their words and tell these officials that she had quit practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Ma Jun is being held in the No. 11 Ward, No. 13 Team, Lanzhou City No. 1 Detention Center.
Ms. Xia Huanzhen is from Hengdian Sub-district in Huangpi District. Some time ago, her pension was suspended. The cause was that during her one-year prison term (April 25, 2018 to April 24, 2019) she received over 9,000 yuan, which had to be clawed back.
By now her son has returned her pension (over 9,00 yuan) to the relevant department.
Ms. Yan Ling was sentenced to a one-year-and-six-month prison term and fined 1,000 yuan by the Fengtai District Court in recent days.
Officers from the Haishu Domestic Security Division asked a locksmith to open the door to Ms. Jiang Chunya’s home and arrested her on the afternoon of November 17, 2020. The officers wanted to use photos taken from the surveillance system to accuse her. Ms. Jiang’s cell phone and computer were confiscated. She has returned home.
The Xichang City Court issued an arrest warrant for the arrest of Ms. Zhou Xianrong’s non-practitioner husband Mr. Pan on November 11, 2020. He was arrested and taken to a detention center, pending a prison term.
Mr. Pan had high blood pressure, developed cysts in his internal organs, and was in very poor health. The detention center refused to accept him. However, after the court sent a written statement to the detention center, the detention center accepted him.
Ms. Zhang Yuhui from Haizhu District was arrested on the morning of November 16, 2020. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Qiao Shuhong will be tried on November 27, 2020.
Ms. Yang Fenglan, 65, in the Qixinghuayuan area in Qingshan District, was reported to the police on October 29, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
A residential community police officer and officers from the local police station broke into her home at around 10:30 a.m. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Yang tried to take the photos back, she was beaten and her hands were bruised. She was arrested.
Later, seven or eight officers ransacked her home thoroughly and confiscated a lot of personal belongings. Ms. Yang returned home at about 4:20 p.m.
Party secretary Sun Hongdao from Beijingzi Town government and officers including Zhang Zhongwei from the Beijingzi Town Police Station went to Ms. Na Shuchun’s home and harassed her on the morning of November 9, 2020. They told her husband to sign the paperwork. He refused.
Fanjiashan Village head and Sun Hongdao called Ms. Na’s son separately and asked him to tell his mother to go to the government office to sign the paperwork. They called Ms. Na’s family members several times. Ms. Na’s son was a taxi driver, and he was followed and harassed at work. Her granddaughter works in Shenyang City. She was also threatened and harassed by phone calls.
The Lamadian Police Department in Ranghulu District called Mr. Wu Hongjun on September 25, 2020, and told him to come to the office, but he refused to.
Officers from the police department went to the home of Mr. Wu’s parents on the afternoon of September 30. They asked about Mr. Wu’s whereabouts. The elderly couple was frightened.
Mr. Wu has been persecuted in the past, and his parents have been living in fear. On October 10, his father suffered a stroke. He stayed in the intensive care unit for seven days before getting out of danger. His mother could not withstand the sudden pressure, a week later, she developed severe symptoms of depression and would talk insensibly from time to time.
Despite the terrible situation of the elderly couple, the police did not spare them the pressure. The Changqing community where Mr. Wu’s parents lived also harassed the elderly couple by phone, and they even harassed Mr. Wu’s children who were working out of town.
