Jilin Teacher Targeted Again for an Old Case, Daughter with Mental Illness Left at Home Alone

Oct. 22, 2020 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Dong Weixing’s daughter was dealt a heavy blow when her father was arrested again on October 10, 2020 for his faith in Falun Gong. Still recovering from the trauma of witnessing her father’s previous arrests, the young woman went to the local police station every day, crying for her father. The police blocked her outside and intimidated her.

Mr. Dong, a school teacher in Yitong County, Jilin Province, has been subjected to constant arrests and detention since July 1999, when the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of his faith. Unable to bear the pressure, his wife divorced him. He was given the custody of their daughter, Dong Ke.

Dong Ke grew up witnessing the police arresting and beating her father, as well as ransacking their home. She suffered a mental collapse and was admitted to a mental hospital several times. Although in her early 20s now, she is unable to work and takes anti-anxiety drugs every day.

It was reported that the police targeted Mr. Dong for filing a criminal complaint in 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.

Mr. Dong was arrested at home on December 15, 2015 after the police found out about his criminal complaint. They searched his place and confiscated his three computers, several speakers, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. One officer videotaped him, while he was held on the ground with his hands cuffed.

The police then took Mr. Dong to the police station, locked him in a chair, and interrogated him. Although the police released Mr. Dong after holding him for ten days, they targeted him again five years later for the same case.

Mr. Dong is now detained at the Yitong County Detention Center. He is facing prosecution as the police have submitted his case to the Yitong County Procuratorate.
