Hebei Woman Forced to Live Away from Home to Avoid Persecution Because of Her Faith

July 10, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Shenzhou City, Hebei Province has been forced to live away from home for two months after she escaped from being arrested for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

More than 20 officers broke into Ms. Du Xiaoju's home on May 14, 2019 and attempted to arrest her. Ms. Du escaped while the officers were ransacking her home. The police detained her ill husband for four hours and also returned several times to harass her family, leaving her unable to return.

Ms. Du, 60, is well-known in her village for being a filial daughter-in-law. Her husband is the youngest of three brothers, and according to Chinese customs, the two older brothers and their wives should have shouldered more responsibilities in caring for their elderly parents. Yet it was Ms. Du that did most of the work. She took meticulous care of her bedridden parents-in-law, including giving them baths and frequently washing and changing their soiled bed linens.

When her mother-in-law was hospitalized at one point, a fellow patient praised Ms. Du for being such a good daughter. Upon learning she was a daughter-in-law instead, the patient couldn't believe a daughter-in-law would be as good to her mother-in-law as a daughter.

Her parents-in-law had a farmland that their two older sons didn't want. Ms. Du took it over and managed the land. After her parents-in-law passed away, her two brothers-in-laws changed their mind and asked for the land back. Ms. Du agreed and gave the land back to them.
