Falun Gong Prohibits Killing Others or Self

May 20, 2019

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong is an ancient advanced self-cultivation practice of the Buddha School that is guided by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Its main teachings include Zhuan Falun, a book that teaches people to improve their character by following Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and five sets of gentle, slow, and curved exercises that help open wisdom and harmonize mind and body.

In the original teachings of Falun Gong, it is clearly stated that killing others or committing suicide are prohibited. Therefore, anyone who attempts to frame and attack Falun Gong by claiming it encourages suicide or homicide dares not have people read Zhuan Falun or other original texts of Falun Gong. Those who would smear Falun Gong know that despite the declining morality throughout society, many people still have a conscience and will not believe the lies once they know the truth.

Regarding killing, Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, wrote in Zhuan Falun:

“For practitioners, we have set the strict requirement that they cannot kill lives.” (Lecture Seven)

He further said,

“The issue of killing is very sensitive. For practitioners, we have set the strict requirement that they cannot kill lives. Be it the Buddha School, the Tao School, or the Qimen School, regardless of which school or practice it is, as long as it is an upright cultivation practice, it will consider this issue very absolute and prohibit killing—this is for sure.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)

Mr. Li further wrote,

“Shouldn’t you practice Shan? In order to assimilate to the characteristic of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren, one must practice Shan. If you always commit bad deeds, how can you increase gong? How can your illness be cured? Isn’t this the opposite of what our cultivators should do?” (Lecture Eight, Zhuan Falun)

Mr. Li also addressed the issue of killing in other books. In Falun Gong, Mr. Li taught his students:

“Killing is the worst evildoing—it is wrong and will generate heavy karma. Karma is the primary factor that causes sickness in people. Of course, it doesn’t always manifest in the form of sickness—it can also manifest as running into problems and the like. All of these things are karma at work. So practitioners must not do anything bad. Any misconduct will result in negative influences that will seriously impact your cultivation.”

Mr. Li also advised students in Falun Dafa Essentials for Further Advancement:

“One’s Buddha-nature is Shan, and it manifests itself as compassion, thinking of others before acting, and the ability to endure suffering. One’s demon-nature is viciousness, and it manifests as killing, stealing and robbing, selfishness, wicked thoughts, sowing discord, stirring up troubles by spreading rumors, jealousy, wickedness, anger, laziness, incest and so on.” (“Buddha-Nature and Demon-Nature”)

Mr. Li issued a stern warning in “Fa-Teaching Given at the Conference in Sydney” that “...suicide is sinful.”

Falun Gong was introduced to the public in China in 1992. In the seven short years that followed, one in every ten Chinese was practicing Falun Gong and reading Zhuan Falun; numerous stories attesting to Falun Gong's miraculous power in improving health, keeping fit and elevating morality were spread by word of mouth in the Chinese society. However, out of jealousy and fear, the head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1999 decided to instigate people's hatred towards Falun Gong and launched the persecution of the practice.

The CCP staged the self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square in January 2001 and claimed that Falun Gong taught people to commit suicide. After the truth was revealed to the world that none of the self-immolators were Falun Gong practitioners and that the incident was a hoax, the evil nature of the CCP became even more obvious to the world.

Let's turn our attention to the world. During the Revolutions of 1989, the “big brother Russian Communist Party” collapsed and its bloody history was made known to the public. In 1999, the “little brother CCP” started to persecute the righteous Way of Falun Gong and chose for itself a path heading for destruction. During the twenty years that followed, the CCP's crimes have been exposed by Falun Dafa's Minghui website and discussed systematically and in great depth in three extraordinary books, including Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Disintegrate Party Culture, and The Ultimate Goal of Communism. The remnant of the CCP is gasping for air and its days are numbered.

In Vietnam, the number of Falun Gong practitioners has been increasing rapidly in recent years. The practice is particularly popular among young people who are good at using the Internet. In recent days, for unknown reasons, some people outside of China have adopted the CCP's overused smear tactic, and claimed that Falun Gong practitioners in Vietnam were involved in a murder case. They thus launched a media campaign against Falun Gong.

According to observers, just like what happened when the CCP first started the persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP-hired media has mobilized other media, which don't care about the truth, and are only interested in grabbing headlines, to blindly reprint the CCP's slanderous propaganda.

Many people may already know that the Wall Street Journal published an article titled “Practicing Falun Gong Was a Right, Ms. Chen Said, up to Her Last Day” on April 20, 2000. The following year, the article's author, Ian Johnson, won a 2001 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting on victims of the Chinese government's brutal suppression of the Falun Gong movement.

Any time an important issue like this surfaces, it is also time to test the conscience and reporting capabilities of the media and reporters. We wonder which reporter will emerge this time to let the truth shine.

Some media outlets in Taiwan have been reporting on the murder case in Vietnam and defaming Falun Gong. No matter whether they are trying to keep the CCP on life support or are motivated by financial interests promised by the CCP, these media outlets' attack on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance will only accelerate the CCP's demise. As a matter of fact, there are already people in Vietnam who are questioning the smear campaign against Falun Gong; there are also media pointing out that the police saw no evidence at the scene of any involvement by Falun Gong practitioners.

From 1999 to 2019, Falun Dafa books have been translated into 40 languages and the practice has been enjoyed by people in at least 80 countries. The international community has witnessed on many occasions the peaceful, kind, and resilient nature of Falun Gong practitioners. As the Chinese saying goes, the benevolent see benevolence, the wise see wisdom. History has shown that launching the smear campaign at this time in history will not only fail to prop up the CCP but also enable more people to understand the truth of Falun Gong. The more people that understand the truth of Falun Gong, the sooner the CCP will take its last breath.

The world needs Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Only those who have a conscience, who cherish Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and who live by Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, will be blessed by gods and enjoy a bright future.
