(Minghui.org) Some practitioners have not had a good effect when studying the Fa. The following two stories may provide some inspiration.
In ancient China, Yiqiu was the most popular chess player. He taught two students to play chess. One student was dedicated and listened to the teachings attentively, even though the class was given outdoors. The other student didn’t focus on the class; he often watched the swans, thinking that one would fly and daydreaming about shooting it with his bow and arrow. Although he learned to play chess with the other student, he could not get it. Was this because he was not smart enough? Of course not.
In a more modern time, a telecommunications company sought to hire a transmitter who knew Morse code. Many candidates applied for the position. They were all brought into a workshop where various sounds were playing. One attendee, a young man, stood for a while, then walked straight into the interview room. He was hired.
The supervisor walked out of the interview room and told the other candidates, “One of the many sounds you hear in the workshop was a message being transmitted in Morse code. If you heard it, you were told to go directly to the interview room. You may all know Morse code, but it's a pity you didn't hear it.”
In order to hear the Morse code transmission, one needs to calm down, concentrate, and eliminate interference. While Morse code cannot be compared with the Fa, the characteristic of the universe, the analogy demonstrates that we need to focus our mind when reading. In order to assimilate to Zhen-Shan-Ren, a practitioner has to study the Fa attentively and with a calm mind.
Some practitioners have not achieved good results in Fa-study for a long time. Let's ask ourselves, “Did you concentrate when studying?” While learning the Fa, were we thinking about shopping or checking our cell phones or computers? Were we distracted by the things around us, chatting with others, or being muddle-headed? With so many everyday notions, can we understand or enlighten to the cosmic characteristics of Dafa?
I found it helpful to read one paragraph of Zhuan Falun until I get the surface meaning before moving to the next one. If one doesn’t understand the surface meaning, one has actually mentally slipped.
Also, we need to cherish the time and recite the Fa. The more one studies the Fa, the cleaner and more focused one's mind can be. Reciting the Fa is a manifestation of one's strong will. If one can persist, one is continually elevated.
Master said,
“If you cannot keep up in Fa-study, then there is no hope.” (“Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XI)
I understand that Dafa disciples must concentrate when studying the Fa, and use it to guide themselves to remove attachments and notions. Only then can one cultivate well and assist Master with rectifying the Fa.
