Ms. Cai Rufen Sentenced to 3 Years of Imprisonment

April 27, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Falun Dafa practitioner from Wuhan City, Hubei Province was sentenced to three years in prison in November 2017, nearly a year after her illegal arrest for upholding her spiritual belief.

Ms. Cai Rufen was distributing informational materials about Falun Dafa in Hongshan District on the afternoon of February 20, 2017, when someone reported her. Officers from the Liyuan Police Station arrested her and took her to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center. She was held for ten days at the detention center before being taken to the Wuhan No. 1 Jail for “criminal detention.”

Ms. Cai's sister and 80-year-old mother went to the Liyuan Police Station several times to inquire about her situation and request her release. The officers either avoided them or gave them the runaround due to pressure from the Wuhan City 610 Office and the Hongshan District Domestic Security Division.

Ms. Cai was illegally tried on November 1, 2017, and later sentenced to prison and fined 3,000 yuan. She was transferred to Wuhan City Women's Prison in March 2018.
