Woman Arrested 2 Years After Police Fabricate Witness Accounts and Put Her on Wanted List

November 27, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Xiantao City resident was stopped at a train station in Wuhan City on October 26, 2018 after she was identified as a Falun Gong practitioner on the wanted list through a facial recognition system.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Shen Huanjiao was taken to the Qianjian Detention Center the day after her arrest. She is now facing prosecution for her faith.

It was reported that police targeted Ms. Shen after they suspected her of distributing Falun Gong materials in Xiantao City together with five other practitioners two years ago.

The five practitioners were convicted in December 2017 for their faith in Falun Gong. Two of them have started to serve time in prison, and three were released on December 25, 2017, after they were given three years' sentence with three years' probation.

Ms. Shen insisted she has never gone to the place where she was alleged to have distributed Falun Gong materials with the five practitioners.

Two officers from Guanghua police station, Lin Weibo and Wang Yan, forged the five practitioners' confessions and signatures not long after their arrests. The confessions stated that Ms. Shen was with them distributing materials.

Ms. Shen's family visited the five practitioners in detention, and they all said that they never told police she was with them on the day of their arrests or signed their names on any “confessions.”

The police still put Ms. Shen on their wanted list and captured her two years later at the train station.

While Ms. Shen's family demanded that the witness accounts be verified for authenticity, the police informed them on November 8 that they had finished investigating the case and had submitted it to the Qianjiang Procuratorate.

Days later, the two officers who forged the confessions two years ago told Ms. Shen's family that Ms. Yang Dongmei, one of the five practitioners who is currently on probation, once identified Ms. Shen by looking at a lineup of pictures.

Ms. Shen's family visited Ms. Yang, who said she never identified Ms. Shen through pictures.
