(Minghui.org) Ms. Deng Cuiping, my mother from Yuxi City, Yundan Province, started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Her health problems such as rhinitis (allergies), pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat), dizziness and headaches have disappeared as a result. She had been free of illness for two decades and looked very young.
However, a few months after she was arrested on July 24, 2016, a lump was found on the inner side of her leg. Eventually, it developed into a tumor, which caused acute pain; she now has difficulty sitting and standing.
She reported her condition to her attorney on March 30th when he visited her in the detention center. She said the clinic doctor had tried different treatments, but it did not alleviate her pain. The doctor stated he could not help her due to the limited medical facilities at the center.
After persistent requests for a medical parole from my father and her attorney, they met Zhu Zhengxiang, director of the detention center. However, he refused to guarantee any action, by stating that everything would follow procedure.
Ms. Deng was initially arrested in Chengjiang County, Yuxi City by police from Chengjiang County and Ershan County on July 24, 2016. (Four other practitioners were also arrested Ms. Li Qiongzhen, Ms. Li Li, Ms. Qin Liyuan and Mr. Pu Zhiming).
She has been detained in Hongta District Detention Center for over eight months. She was tried by Ershan County Court on February 16, 2017. Her attorney Sun Dianjun defended her innocence in court and stated that Ms. Deng did not disrupt social order as charged.
My mother also defended herself during the trial by stating that she had been living by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and has not harmed anyone.
She was sentenced to six years in jail and fined 10,000 yuan on February 24, 2017. Her case has been appealed to a higher court.
