(Minghui.org) Even talking about Falun Gong in public is still considered a crime to this day in China. Practitioners caught doing so in public face arrest, imprisonment, or torture.
Two Falun Gong practitioners from Cheng’an County in Hebei Province were illegally arrested while they were telling people about Falun Gong on June 17, 2016. Ms. Mi Aiqin, 62, was sent to the county detention center. The other practitioner, an 80-year-old woman, was released the same day.
When Ms. Mi Aiqin’s family members asked police why she was arrested, they said that she was seen distributing Falun Gong flyers, but they could not provide any legal documents or official publications to justify the arrest.
After former communist leader Jiang Zemin launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Mi has been constantly harassed, being arrested and detained a number of times. Police ransacked her house and confiscated her money.
In early 2003, about ten days before the Chinese New Year, police broke into her home and took her to detention. Another time, police jumped over her fence at midnight and searched her home.
The third time, after failing to find her at home, police took her non-practitioner husband to the detention center for seven days.
Ms. Mi had a hard life before she began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. She had a hot temper and often fought with family members. After her youngest daughter had a prolonged fever, she became blind. Ms. Mi was extremely depressed by her family's misfortunes.
After she began to practice Falun Gong, Ms. Mi became a different person. By following the Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she became very pleasant. Life at home became harmonious, and her family members were very thankful to Falun Gong.
