After Forced Abortion Ordered by Brainwashing Center, Shanxi Woman Sues Former Dictator

March 28, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Shanxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) A soon-to-be mother had her eight-month fetus surgically dismembered inside her so as to clear the way to send her to a brainwashing center.

In the Chinese communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong, many women like Ms. Zhang were forced to abort their children; sometimes the infants are killed after being born.

Ms. Zhang Hanyun, 49, an engineer from Hanzhong City in Shanxi Province, described her forced abortion in a criminal complaint she filed with the Supreme People's Procuratorate on March 14, 2016.

She charges former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin with initiating the Communist Party's brutal campaign against Falun Gong, under which practitioners across China are imprisoned, subjected to forced labor and brainwashing, and even tortured for refusing to renounce their faith.

Ms. Zhang said she suffered from amenorrhea and couldn't get pregnant. After practicing Falun Gong for six months, her menses became normal, and she conceived in August 2000.

Fleeing From Brainwashing

In March 2001, the 610 Office attempted to send Ms. Zhang to a brainwashing facility, despite her being eight months pregnant. When she went into hiding with a relative, agents from the 610 Office ordered police to close down her brother's construction site and handcuff her husband on a bridge, using public humiliation to force Ms. Zhang's family to hand her over.

Police eventually arrested Ms. Zhang and sent her to the brainwashing center. When the staff realized she would soon give birth, they took her to a hospital and ordered a doctor to apply a lethal injection to the baby. As the baby was too big and couldn't be delivered, the doctor reached inside her, dismembered the baby, and removed it.

In addition to her baby's tragic death, she was arrested and had her home ransacked four times. She was also sentenced to one year of forced labor in May 2008 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
