(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen E, 68, was arrested by four officers from the Qidingshan Town Police Station on June 23, 2015 for talking to the public about the persecution of Falun Gong. After she was taken to Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian City, they raided her home.
Dalian is one of three cities declared “China's Best Tourist City” by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2007.
Following the search of her home, the police left with a collection of Falun Gong books, a computer, and a cell phone. Ms. Chen’s son found out about the arrest and home search after he finished work, and immediately went to the detention center. However, he was not allowed to see his mother. Other family members went to the detention center on June 29, but were also denied visitation.
Ms. Chen, a resident of Dalianpao Village in the Jinzhou District of Dalian, used to suffer from heart disease, dizziness and other serious ailments. She frequently went to the hospital, to no avail. To make things worse, her husband died when their son was young. Ms. Chen had a mental breakdown.
In the spring of 1999, she began to practice Falun Gong. After a short time, she regained her health and became a better person. She followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her daily life. She says she was no longer short-tempered and became a more caring person as a result.
Ms. Chen grew vegetables in two large greenhouses. She didn't use chemicals to boost production, but her income was higher than that of farmers with similarly-sized greenhouses. She offers horticulture advice to her customers and other vendors without charging extra fees. She also hired a caregiver to tend to her 90-year-old mother, and often spends time with her.
