(Minghui.org) A brainwashing camp was recently established in the Hulan Detention Center to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. It was organized by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAT) and the 610 Office of the Hulan District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Failing to round up enough practitioners, the officials paid a village official from the Women's Committee to meet the quota.
On May 26, 2015, over 20 people, including officials from the PLAT of the Hulan District, political head Gao Zhibo and deputy head Zhang from the Kangjin Town Police Station, officials from the Kangjin Town government, and the neighborhood administration office arrived at Kangjin Town to arrest over 20 Falun Gong practitioners who were on a compiled list.
The group of officials and police failed to find any practitioners in Yongsheng Village, Kangjin Town. As a result, they decided to hire Kang Yanqiu, head of the village's Women's Committee, to pose as a Falun Gong practitioner in the brainwashing camp.
In addition, two Kangjin Town residents, who had quit practicing Falun Gong were forcibly taken to the brainwashing camp.
Tan Shuhua, 60, a resident of Kangjin Town, was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison after the persecution started in 1999. She spent five years in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. She was released in 2007. She expressed that she would not practice Falun Gong any more during her detention shortly after her arrest. Yet, she was not spared of the persecution. The police arrested and took her to the brainwashing camp, as they considered her to be a Falun Gong practitioner.
Zhu Zicheng, 55, a resident of Kangjin Town, quit practicing Falun Gong after the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution in 1999. His wife, who has never practiced Falun Gong, was also taken to the brainwashing camp to increase the headcount.
