I am a practitioner who obtained the Fa through the Internet at the end of 2011. Through studying Master’s Fa teachings, I came to understand that only through steadily doing the three things well could I catch up with the pace of Fa-rectification and become a fully qualified Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple.
Master said:
“Many things in the Fa-rectification period aren’t that simple, and nothing is one-dimensional. Things arranged by gods involve multiple factors. When someone heads abroad [from China], well, since he isn’t able to hear the truth while in China, isn’t he being directed to go overseas so that he can learn the truth? You can’t abandon these people. We must still do a good job of clarifying the truth at the tourist sites in each region.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Last year after finishing working on Shen Yun promotion, I found out that the truth-clarification efforts at the airport and the tourist sites in Hollywood lacked practitioners. Thus, I chose the airport.
I was originally thinking of just picking up one other practitioner and going to the airport together; I couldn't have imagined that now I would be taking whole carloads of practitioners over to the airport to clarify the truth!
Actually the person who has benefited most in this is me, for if it wasn’t for me shouldering the responsibility of driving practitioners to the airport to clarify the truth, I very possibly, due to my attachment to comfort, would not have kept it up. I really want to thank the practitioners who have been going to the airport with me to clarify the truth together. I really cherish this predestined relationship.
Starting from April last year, we have gone to the international terminal of Los Angeles Airport to clarify the truth every Monday and Wednesday night. It has now been one year. After getting off work every Monday and Wednesday, I quickly prepare some dinner for my husband, then according to the different times the flights arrive in the summer and winter seasons, I set off for the airport at either 5 or 6 in the evening, picking up the other practitioners on the way. The journey takes about 70 to 80 minutes.
We first go to the arrivals hall on first floor, wait for Mainland Chinese tourists, give them newspapers, clarify the facts and urge them to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. Then, half of the practitioners stay in the arrivals area and the other half go up to the second floor and clarify the truth to the Mainland Chinese tourists going through departures. Later at night, I drop off each practitioner at their house and usually get home before 11 p.m.
In order to not miss even one opportunity for a Chinese tourist to understand the truth, my bag is filled with all types of truth-clarification materials: Chinese Epoch Times special editions, truth-clarification reports, the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, pamphlets in English exposing the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) forced organ harvesting crimes, English Falun Gong fliers, information on how to break through China’s great Internet firewall, fliers explaining how to quit the party, and other Dafa materials in English and Chinese.
This year, in just one month, I went from having just started to give out truth-clarification newspapers and publications to Chinese people, and information exposing the forced organ harvesting to Westerners, to clarifying the truth verbally – even though I hesitated and stuttered. When I just started, I would often forget my lines before even two sentences, or as soon as the person asked a question I would either have no way to answer or would leave in a hurry.
Slowly I started to talk more with those who were willing to listen, then at the beginning of this year I started to talk to every single person. Because there would always be someone hanging around by the exit, if other practitioners were busy, I would force myself to fill the gap. It was very hard for me at first, but when I was fully responsible to myself and sentient beings, I unexpectedly broke through the barriers imposed by a sense of self. This past year I experienced a lot of these feelings, and this also brought me a lot of improvement in my cultivation.
When we first started going to the airport, there were several times when we encountered airport staff or even airport police who wanted to kick us out. Since I was the only practitioner from our carload who could speak English, the task of clarifying the truth about the CCP's forced organ harvesting crimes fell on my shoulders.
Master said:
“Wherever a problem surfaces, go tell people the facts, and you shouldn't be doing it just to push the lawsuit forward but to tell them the facts. And if the lawsuit is stuck somewhere, then that must be where it needs you to clarify the facts, and then maybe the lawsuit will naturally go forward.”("Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference")
After several months of clarifying the truth and communicating with these people, we are now clarifying the truth and urging withdrawals from the CCP while respecting the work responsibilities of the airport staff. Now, the airport staff are all very friendly and supportive of us. One time I was clarifying the truth to a Chinese person near the departure gate. I hadn’t even said a few sentences, when his son went and found an airport staff member and told them I was harassing them. This Western airport staff not only didn’t ask us to leave, he also said that my behavior wasn’t in any way improper. That arrogant and imposing young man was suddenly speechless.
There is a degree of difficulty in clarifying the truth at the airport. You have to take the initiative to act, and make sure you will encounter Asian faces. I first ask the person if they are from Mainland China; if they live overseas I ask them if they grew up in Mainland China. Only after confirming the person's situation do I start to clarify the truth. The people I encounter each time are always different. It is challenging, but also interesting. I often encounter very moving experiences as well as Master’s encouragement. I take every challenge as an opportunity to improve.
In clarifying the truth to Mainland Chinese people, I often encountered people whose attitude was not good. They wouldn’t take the newspaper, saying that they were illiterate or had bad eyesight, and some pretended that they didn’t understand Mandarin. Some acted like I was invisible and ignored me, turning to face the other direction, or they would push me aside and tell me to leave, or even curse at me. When I encountered these situations, I would not argue. Of course, I wouldn’t want to bring about negative emotions in the person, so I would always wish them good fortune and hope that next time they come to the airport they would open their hearts to understanding the truth, such an extremely important thing for their lives.
Often, I encounter people who understood the truth but still refuse to quit. They think that it's enough to not believe in the Party in their hearts and feel that they don't need to go through the formality of quitting.
One time there was a young person who understood the truth but didn’t quit, thinking that since he had come of age, he had already automatically left the Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League. He also thought we had political motives. I told him that good and evil meet with their just returns, and that taking the initiative to quit the CCP shows Buddhas and Gods that you are a person who understands the difference between good and evil. I told him that China has a huge number of extremely talented individuals, and a China without the evil party would be even stronger. Society would be stable and people’s lives would be enriched. After hearing this, he agreed to quit.
There was a couple who I wanted to clarify the truth to, but they said they didn’t have time to listen. I said I only needed 30 seconds, so the young man set a timer on his cellphone. I spoke as fast as I could: “The three withdrawals means quitting the Party, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers. There are 200 million people who have quit the party. The party has carried out too many bad deeds. Since the founding of the party they have killed and harmed many tens of millions of Chinese people. Good is met with rewards, while evil is met with retribution; the time to settle up has arrived. If you have ever joined any Communist organizations in the past, you are one of its particles; you bear a share of everything it had done. When the gods want to eliminate it, you will also suffer a disaster.” When I finished I asked him how much time was left, and he said five seconds! I guess they were moved by my sincerity, as they happily carried out the three withdrawals.
People who are in need of assistance at the airport will usually quit easily. These people are easy to recognize, as they have an indistinct, confused expression, looking like they are lost. We take the initiative to assist them, lending them a phone to make a call, giving directions, or giving advice on a variety of matters. When we recommend they quit the party, they usually quit right away.
Because clarifying the truth at the airport has to be very hurried and time is limited, there is no way to speak to people at a deep level. You can only try to induce kind thoughts and urge people to do the three withdrawals. For those who do quit, I give them another newspaper so they can read more and understand more deeply, and hopefully, when they return home, urge their friends and family to quit.
In the process of clarifying the truth at the airport so often, upon returning home, I always reflect about where I hadn’t done well that day, which questions I couldn’t answer or answered badly, and what situations I couldn’t handle, constantly looking inward, examining how to do better and break through my sense of self. In this process I slowly gave up the attachments of comfort, fear, impatience, reliance on others, discrimination and pride. I increased my righteous thoughts and had less of a sense of self.
Each day that I go to the airport, no matter how tired I am or how much I want to rest at home, I always overcome the challenge and go. I can’t let my laziness leave other practitioners without a way to get there, and make people who are yet to be saved lose an opportunity to hear the truth and quit the Party. After arriving at the airport I always tell myself: Let go of self, put all your ability and your whole heart into this. Each time I leave the airport I am very happy that I came, as I've fulfilled my duty.
Actually, the majority of Chinese people are kind; they have just had no choice but be destroyed by the CCP. They put up their guard to protect themselves. Under the long-term struggles, purges and brainwashing by the CCP, they have become helplessly cold and selfish, resigned to their fate, not knowing what the fundamental human rights of a person are. Being Chinese, in this age where Dafa is spreading, how lucky I am. I often think that if I grew up in the environment of Mainland China, I would exhibit the same qualities they have. Thus all their reactions are natural, and I have even more compassion for them.
Because of practitioners all over the world steadfastly clarifying the truth for over ten years, with the progress of Fa-rectification, many people have come to understand the truth. I've noticed that recently, as soon as I cut straight to the point and urge people to quit the Party, they often agree after just a few words. I also can feel very obviously that for those sentient beings who quit, as soon as they quit the Party their attitude suddenly becomes very kind.
Master said:
“So, it was arranged that when you reach the standard for ordinary Consummation, you still have, in the human world, all kinds of ordinary human thoughts and karma. The purpose is so that while doing Fa-rectification things you bring in, through your clarifying the truth and for the consummation of your paradises, beings that can be saved. As you consummate your own paradises you are, at the same time, eliminating your last karma, gradually getting rid of your human thoughts, and truly stepping forward from humanness.” ("Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples," from Essentials for Further Advancement II)
Master also said:
“I’ve given my utmost concern not just to you, but to all lives. I have almost depleted everything of mine for all lives. ” (Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland )
Master has taken so much care and thought for us and all sentient beings. It is only when we do the three things well that we will be walking the path that Master has set for us. It is only when we are in the process of clarifying the truth and saving sentient beings that we can dissolve our karma and gradually get rid of human attachments.
I hope that all practitioners can, according to their personality, talents, environment and situation choose an appropriate truth-clarification project to join and coordinate as one body. Dafa disciples who don’t help Master rectify the Fa and save sentient beings are not befitting of the title of "Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples." (“Touring North America to Teach the Fa”).
Please point out where I have not studied the Fa deeply enough, or have misunderstandings or incorrect methods.
