(Minghui.org) Mr. Lu Shangchun was put on trial at the Changping District Court on January 19, 2015. He is accused of using paper currency which had information about the persecution of Falun Gong printed on it. His attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

A stall owner reported Mr. Lu to market staff on the morning of September 7, 2014, when he was using the money at Wenhua market in Changping District, Beijing.

Soon after, Mr. Lu was taken to the Longyuan Police Station and 1,000 yuan in cash was confiscated from him.

The police went to Mr. Lu's home that afternoon. They confiscated his printer and computer, but they couldn't find any evidence that the messages were printed on the money by him. He was taken to the Changping Detention Center in the evening.

Beijing Procuratorate No. 1 branch issued the arrest warrant on October 11, 2014, and Mr. Lu was transferred to the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center. His case was filed at Changping Court on December 24, 2014. Chief judge Yang Weidong is in charge of his case.

Falun Gong practitioners have been deprived of their Constitutional right to appeal against the persecution of the practice, which started in July 1999. Using various grassroots approaches to raise awareness out about Falun Gong and the persecution, practitioners began to write or print messages on paper bills and circulate them. Examples of messages used include: “The Chinese Communist regime harvests organs from live Falun Gong practitioners” and “Read the Nine Commentaries to learn the facts [about the Chinese Communist Party's crimes].”
