(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Suying, 58, was illegally sentenced to a five-year prison term in July 2014, for practicing Falun Gong. She was transferred to Shaanxi Women’s Prison on December 9, 2014.
Ms. Liu is being detained in a maximum discipline team for three months, and her family is barred from visiting her.
She was illegally arrested on June 4, 2013, and held at the Jintai Detention Center in Baoji City prior to her sentencing.
Past Persecution
Ms. Liu, a former employee at Baoji City Petroleum Machinery Company, began practicing Falun Gong in 1995.
In July 1999 the Chinese Communist Party began the persecution of Falun Gong, and Ms. Liu has since been repeatedly harassed and detained.
She was detained in the Petroleum Hotel for “transformation” in late 2002, by officers from the Jintai Police Department.
Ms. Liu was arrested again on July 26, 2003, after a materials production site was raided. She was detained at the Lingyun Hotel for five months.
Ms. Liu went into hiding in April 2004, after learning that the Shannxi 610 Office was organizing a brainwashing session in Baoji.
Ms. Liu was not brought to the courtroom when the Jintai District Court sentenced her to a seven-year prison term on September 10, 2004. The court issued an arrest warrant for her. Ms. Liu had to spend the next nine years hiding from the police.
During this time Ms. Liu’s family was repeatedly harassed, and her pension was suspended.
In an attempt to find her, local police harassed her son, who was a college senior preparing for graduate school in late 2011. The boy was so traumatized that he became suicidal, and did poorly in his graduate entrance exams.
Ms. Liu’s husband divorced her, as he was unable to endure years of police harassment.
