(Minghui.org) Many fellow practitioners have shared their opinions about suing former President Jiang Zemin for his role in launching and directing the brutal, 16-year persecution of Falun Gong. The following are a few points I would like to make.

When the tide of lawsuits started, I thought we should file lawsuits against Jiang as well as local officials who have taken part in the persecution. After studying the Fa, I realize that Master has compassionately given Jiang's followers one last opportunity to stop their crimes.

The tide of lawsuits is indeed noteworthy, and part of ending the persecution. It's also another opportunity for us to improve and a test of our cultivation. As Dafa disciples, we can't be content with merely filing the appropriate paperwork. Simply following the trend without upgrading our xinxing does not meet the requirement. The old forces are looking for any excuse to test us. Failure to send out indictments, harassment of plaintiffs, and arrests test our heart nature. We need to break through these difficulties in order to offer salvation to sentient beings.

Many fellow practitioners are paying close attention to the number of lawsuits filed. However, this is different from the number of people quitting the Communist organizations. Even though the number of lawsuits encourages practitioners and is a warning to the persecutors, the key to our improvement is offering salvation to sentient beings without any resentment towards the persecutors or wish to retaliate. An enlightened being would not seek to satisfy personal interests, but instead protect sentient beings and the safety of the cosmos. We have to ask ourselves if we have a clear understanding of the Fa. If we do, no test or trouble would frustrate us or make us panic.

When ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners went to appeal in Beijing on April 25, 1999, the number was not large at all compared to the total number of practitioners at that time. If the number had been a million or ten million, would it have been possible to prevent this persecution? I think it probably would, but it would not be because of the sheer number of people who appealed, but because of the number of practitioners who sincerely safeguarded the Fa from the bottom of their hearts. It is the decisive force that could prevent the persecution.

If the majority of practitioners had stepped forward to clarify the facts of Falun Gong after the persecution was launched, the persecution would not have lasted so long. Many practitioners have fallen behind and have not fulfilled their mission. So many sentient beings have not been saved. That's why we were given this opportunity to sue Jiang. Master is guiding us to fulfill our mission through the process of this lawsuit.

Some fellow practitioners have been harassed or arrested after they filed lawsuits against Jiang. When this happens, we need to put more effort into clarifying the facts of Falun Gong and improving ourselves. Some practitioners' family members have been implicated and retaliated against because of the lawsuits. However, since they don't understand the significance of the lawsuits, they pressure their practitioner relatives to stop. In this case, we have to dig out deeply-hidden attachments and clarify facts of the persecution to our family members with strong righteous thoughts, so that the people around us will see the compassion of Dafa and the bright future that Dafa is leading us to. We don't need to think too much about how to punish the chief perpetrators. As long as we do our part, the divine beings guarding the cosmos will take care of the rest.
