(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Xiaoxia suddenly lost consciousness before the start of her second court hearing for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual belief system being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The judge waited half an hour for the court president to arrive and approve giving Ms. Wang medical attention. By the time she was sent to a hospital, doctors could no longer detect a heartbeat. She was pronounced dead three days later.
The 45-year-old woman from Chongqing complained about headache and dizziness shortly before the court session on October 19, 2015, but the presiding judge ordered the hearing to proceed.
Ms. Wang lost consciousness as she was being led to the stand. Despite her family's plea to rush her to a hospital, the judge insisted on following a court regulation stipulating that any medical attention given to Falun Gong practitioners must be approved by the court president.
Ms. Wang lay unconscious for 30 minutes before the court president showed up to green-light her transport to a local hospital.
By then, it was too late–Ms. Wang showed no sign of a heartbeat and had stopped breathing. She eventually passed away on the evening of October 22, 2015.
Ms. Wang was arrested on April 11, 2015 for distributing DVDs of Shen Yun Performing Arts, a classical Chinese dance show that drew inspiration from Falun Gong. She was later released on medical parole due to high blood pressure.
Beibei District Court in Chongqing held the first hearing of Ms. Wang on September 18, 2015. The session was adjourned after Ms. Wang requested the right to counsel.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wang had been arrested twice for practicing Falun Gong. She spent one and a half years in a forced labor camp between 2000 and 2002. Her husband, Mr. Chen Mingxi, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was once given two years of forced labor and tortured to disability.
The police constantly harassed the couple and ransacked their homes when they were not detained for their belief.
